Student answer (Band 5.5)
The world is getting progress in agriculture day by day but many people around the world are still starving. All the case is that people are losing their lives due to poverty and hunger so here we will discuss the causes and solution of this major problem due to which people are suffering still in 21st century.
Firstly, in today's advanced world the main reason of the hunger is unemployment. People are jobless not because they are not qualified, just because their is deficiency of jobs in the world. For example the seats announced for the government doctors are only 5 lac in the whole world in 216 countries but the students getting M.B.B.S degrees are estimated 3 million each year ,so the 2.5 million students are still unemployed. As written they are unable to earn money so definitely they will suffer from hunger.
Secondly, the main reason is inflation.Even the food items are too expensive that a poor man can not buy food for his children. The price of items is increasing day by day even in normal grocery shops. The problem is that first you don't get a job and if you get a job its not a well paid job , even the expenditures of food are unable to be fulfilled.Due to a low salary job it had been difficult for parents even to n feed their children.for example , a man in our town killed his children and then suicide as his children were asking for food and he had no money.
Conclusively, the government should take steps and announce more jobs so that most of people can fulfill their needs. Also the jobs should be well paid so that people can get payback of their work. The one who is starving should also do some effort himself and not sit by putting hand on hand.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of hunger and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat limited. The example regarding the number of doctors globally is statistically questionable and lacks a clear connection to the broader issue of global hunger, which is primarily driven by systemic poverty and food distribution issues rather than professional unemployment. The solutions provided are also quite general. To improve, you should provide more nuanced arguments, such as discussing food waste, climate change, or geopolitical instability, and ensure your examples are more grounded in reality to support your claims effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' is standard, but the internal flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'As written they are unable to earn money', where the antecedent is not explicitly stated. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically into the next without relying on simplistic connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'getting progress', 'major problem', and 'well paid job'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'the seats announced... are only 5 lac' (a regional term not universally understood) and 'putting hand on hand'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and social issues, such as 'socio-economic disparities', 'food insecurity', or 'systemic unemployment', and ensure your word choices are appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include article misuse ('the main reason of the hunger'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. For example, 'its not a well paid job' should be 'it is not a well-paid job'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and expanding your use of complex sentence structures.
