Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite remarkable progress in agricultural productivity in the last 30 years, hunger still persists as a paradox to the modern world. There are a lot of issues by which this happens. I shall discuss the causes, and then I offer some possible solutions.
On the one hand, there are numerous causes that have left hunger as an issue for centuries. One of the biggest causes is unequal access to food resources. Developing countries produce surplus crops, but developing country farmers stay behind in productivity due to lack of infrastructure as well as the unawreness of modern techniques, which are essential to increase their crop production rate. In addition, economic inequalities create a gap between upper and lower classes to buy crops. Although crops are present, due to insufficient funds, they remain unapproachable for the lower class. Finally, political instability creates an environment where only a few can access food and others face starvation.
Although there are several causes due to which individuals face hunger, they are not without solutions. One solution could be to educate farmers about modern methods in agriculture, as well as for the government to provide infrastructure in agriculture. Furthermore, the government should make policies by which food is accessible to every class by fixing the rate of food products. Also, political stability should be maintained in the country to escape the nation from hunger in the form of starvation.
In conclusion, even though many problems have created hunger in this innovative world, by proper planning, fixing prices, and maintaining political stability, we can save ourselves from this crisis.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of global hunger and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as unequal access to resources, lack of infrastructure, and political instability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'fixing the rate of food products' is mentioned as a solution but lacks explanation regarding how this would be implemented or its potential drawbacks. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a general level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'In addition,' and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive markers to create a more natural, sophisticated connection between ideas. Overall, the structure is sound and supports the reader's understanding.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'agricultural productivity,' 'paradox,' and 'infrastructure.' There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'unawreness' (instead of 'lack of awareness') and 'unapproachable' (which usually refers to people, rather than 'inaccessible' for food). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated synonyms for common words to enhance the academic tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'There are a lot of issues by which this happens' is awkward; 'due to which individuals face hunger' is also slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should aim to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and proofread carefully to catch minor slips in phrasing.
