Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that despite the advances made in agriculture, a lot of people suffer from hunger worldwide because of the global economic crisis. Measures such as employment opportunity creation and funding to NGOs should be taken to reduce the problem.
One of the major reasons of why some people around the world still go hungry even though the agriculture sector is producing huge amount of food everyday is the global economic crisis. Many countries are dealing with the adverse effect of it which got worse post Covid-19. As a result, many people cannot afford to purchase basic food items as the price is too high compared to their income level. For example, the price of rice has significantly increased over the last 5 years, causing problem to many low income people who heavily rely on rice as their staple food. Moreover, some countries cannot afford to import many agricultural products because of the high import duties and tariffs. Hence, advancement in agriculture did not improve people's financial state and is still causing hunger problem around the globe.
In order to eradicate this problem, governments should come forward and take initiatives by funding NGOs like World Health Organization (WHO), UNESCO and so on so that they can make invest in campaigns to help such countries suffering from hunger problems. Additionally, employment opportunities should be created to help people earn so that they can afford basic food requirements. For instance, state can provide incentives and loans to encourage startups which can create employment options.
In conclusion, the present global economic crisis and import tariffs have made some people around the world still go hungry even after advancing the agriculture sector. Governments can take measures to help reduce the problem by giving funds to major NGOs and create job opportunities to improve people's financial situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of Covid-19 and the role of government-led employment initiatives. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion to fund the WHO to solve hunger is slightly off-target, as the WHO primarily focuses on health rather than food security or agricultural distribution. The response would benefit from more specific examples or a deeper exploration of the 'why' behind the economic crisis to reach a higher band. Overall, the position is clear and the task is adequately covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the causes from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Hence', and 'In addition' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the connection between the economic crisis and the specific mention of import tariffs could be more smoothly integrated. Overall, the information is easy to follow and the structure is coherent.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language like 'import duties', 'tariffs', and 'incentives'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'causing problem to many low income people' (should be 'causing problems for') and 'make invest in' (should be 'invest in'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and idiomatic expressions would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'one of the major reasons of why' is redundant (should be 'reasons why'), and 'advancing the agriculture sector' is slightly awkward phrasing. There are also minor errors with articles and pluralization, such as 'hunger problem' (should be 'the problem of hunger'). Despite these errors, the grammar does not impede communication, and the writer demonstrates a reasonable level of control over sentence construction.
