Student answer (Band 5.5)
Agricultural sector has become more advance with progressive innovation in technology. Despite of major development such as better seedling techniques and advanced technology, several people are still starving. There are distinct reasons for this, the most pressing concern is climate change, and this issue can be diminished by taking replacing such devices and global warming and by applying rules for usage of gas emitting devices.
The primary reason for shortage of food all over the world is climate changes. The technology is becoming more prevalent in current era, resulting in invention of devices which emits carbon monoxide and other toxic gasses. These gasses then dilute in the air and ultimately produce detrimental effect such as greenhouse effects. Consequently, the constantly increasing global warming results in climate change. For example, more rains, sever weather changes and excessive heat in atmosphere are affecting the growth of crops, leads to shortage of food.
This issue can be addressed by replacement of these inventions such as refrigerator and air conditioners that are emitting such toxic gasses. Government should allocate some funding on this approach. Moreover, public can play a vital role by using these technologies in a balanced way. For example, using them with senso
In conclusion, the main reason for shortage food is climate change and global warming, however this issue can be addressed by taking inventing better device and by using technology with limited use .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying climate change as a cause and suggesting technological and governmental solutions. However, the development is limited by the brevity of the essay, which falls below the 250-word requirement. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion, and the explanation of how climate change specifically leads to food shortages is a bit simplistic. Because the essay is under-length, the depth of analysis is restricted, preventing a higher score. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure that each body paragraph provides a more comprehensive explanation of the points raised.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Consequently, the constantly increasing global warming results in climate change.' The final sentence is incomplete and lacks a clear concluding thought, which disrupts the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the problem and the solution could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'dilute in the air' (instead of 'disperse') and 'taking replacing' (which is grammatically awkward). The essay relies on somewhat repetitive phrasing, such as 'advanced technology' and 'toxic gasses.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common lexical items limits the score. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to agriculture, environmental science, and policy-making to demonstrate a broader range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Despite of major development' (should be 'Despite major developments'), 'devices which emits' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'leads to shortage of food' (missing subject/article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the final sentence is an incomplete fragment. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article usage, and ensure that your sentences are complete and correctly punctuated.
