Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite significant advances in agriculture, millions of people in the world would still suffer from hunger. This is mainly due to poverty, conflict and unequally distribution of food. This essay will discuss the main reasons for this problem and suggest possible solution.
One of the major reason is poverty and also unequal distribution of food. Although modern technology which has increased agriculture production, many people from developing countries are not being able to afford sufficient amount of food. In addition, food may not reach to the vulnerable communities due to poor transportation and distribution systems. Another factor is war, it mainly causes uncertainty as it destroys farmland, even replaces farmer and leaving many people starving and dependent on humanitarian aid. Climate change is also making situation worse by bringing droughts, landslides and floods by interrupting food supplies and destroy crops.
There are several measures that would help address this issue. Firstly, government should mainly focused on developing good infrastructure, better transportation and irrigation system for the good flow of supplies of food to the vulnerable communities and should focus maintaining modern technologies to harvest more goods for the farmers. Moreover, many developed countries and international organization should immediately provide humanitarian aid during emergency situations of natural disaster. Wealthy countries should also try to tackle this situation by reducing wastage of foods by recycling.
In conclusion, hunger continue to exist because of several problems like poverty, climate related problems and unequal distribution of food, not just lack of complete food so, it is our responsibility and people from all around the world to recycle the good and wasting food especially from restrauants.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for hunger and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, covering poverty, conflict, and climate change, and suggesting infrastructure and aid as solutions. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the suggestion to 'recycle' food to solve global hunger is a weak argument that lacks depth and logical connection to the scale of the problem. While the position is clear, the supporting ideas could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The essay covers all requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected at higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Another factor', and 'Firstly', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the progression of ideas is slightly disjointed, such as the sudden shift to food wastage in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly rather than relying on simple additive transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'vulnerable communities', 'humanitarian aid', and 'irrigation system'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'unequally distribution' (should be 'unequal distribution') and 'harvest more goods' (should be 'increase crop yields'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but the lack of more sophisticated or precise lexical items limits the score. Spelling is generally accurate, though 'restrauants' is a notable error.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'many people... are not being able to afford' (should be 'are unable to afford'), 'food may not reach to the vulnerable' (remove 'to'), and 'government should mainly focused' (should be 'should focus'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout, and the errors do not significantly impede communication.
