Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite remarkable development and building the infrastructure, people face the global hunger crisis. There are numerous causes that keep people away from the basic amenities.
The developed countries waste a lot of food due to storage facilities and the patterns of the people. The culture prevailed in the developed countries. Some countries, like African ones, do not have enough facilities to store the food supplies for the drought time. These countries are called developing countries. During cropping season, developing countries export the whole crop, which is not safe for the native people. Similarly, developed countries waste food due to expiration; this pattern leads to different types of diseases due to the unavailability of food in developing countries.
To address this issue, the whole world must take steps in different ways. Firstly, increase the storage capacity in both developed and developing countries. Furthermore, this storage capacity is suitable for both seasons, either cold or summer. Like, African countries need cold storage, whereas European countries need hot storage to perform this activity. Secondly, the United Nations must cooperate with the developing countries to grow the crops in rural areas. So that eliminates the food shortage in the world. Thirdly, the habit of wastage in the developed countries must be eliminated.
In short, advanced countries must build their agriculture sector on the base of advanced levels, and storage capacity must be increased. So that reduces the level of hunger in the world. People feel pleasure when they consume a reasonable amount of food in African countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes of hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding 'exporting the whole crop' in developing countries is a relevant point but lacks sufficient elaboration or concrete evidence to fully support the argument. The solutions provided, such as 'cold storage' and 'hot storage', are slightly simplistic and lack depth. While the position is clear, the ideas are not fully extended, and the conclusion is somewhat disconnected from the main body of the essay. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific examples to justify your points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from causes to solutions. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Phrases like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Secondly' are used to structure the argument, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are occasionally abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing food waste in developed countries to the storage issues in developing countries lacks a smooth connecting thought. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'this pattern leads to different types of diseases', which does not clearly link back to the preceding argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'infrastructure', 'amenities', and 'storage capacity', but there is a reliance on simpler vocabulary. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'the culture prevailed in the developed countries' or 'hot storage', which is not a standard term in this context. There is also some repetition of basic words like 'countries' and 'food'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific terminology related to global agriculture and food security.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'Despite remarkable development and building the infrastructure' is grammatically incomplete. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'during drought time' or 'on the base of advanced levels'. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty or awkward. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy and variety.
