Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the ideas regarding economic pressures and government intervention are relevant, they are often presented in a repetitive or slightly superficial manner. For instance, the discussion on 'financial literacy' seems to be a misuse of the term, as the context actually refers to financial hardship. The conclusion introduces a new idea (AI farming) which is not discussed in the body paragraphs, making it feel disconnected. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that each point is fully extended with clear logical links and avoid introducing new concepts in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly inaccurate. Phrases like 'Resulting in financially lacking' and 'causing into financial literacy' demonstrate a lack of control over sentence-level transitions. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between 'expensive living era' and 'financial literacy' is unclear. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and awkward collocations. For example, 'survive hungry' is not standard English, and 'financial literacy' is used incorrectly to describe poverty. There is also a reliance on basic vocabulary, such as 'good' or 'best services'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific terminology like 'aid schemes' and 'farming techniques', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations (e.g., 'alleviate poverty' instead of 'solve hungriness') and ensure that you are using words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This solutions will solve'), incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'causing into'), and missing articles (e.g., 'in agriculture industry'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater precision.
