Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern world, some individuals believe that in the technological era, there have been upgradation of machines and technology in the farming and the production of crops is growing, so there is a question, why people still can not afford food and why their stomachs are empty. This essay will discuss about the reasons with the exact answers based on our knowledge and experience.
To commence, one of the major reasons is that poor people can not afford food for their survival. This is because in today's era, the distribution of food work are not done properly in the poor areas by the higher authorities. Due to war, crops and food supplies may be destroyed in these situations. In addition, the natural disaster also destroy the food production such as drought and flood. As a result, it may create several problems in the long term.
Furthermore, one of the major solutions is that the government should provide subsidies over food items and the tax redemptions will be provided for the poor people, so they can afford food products for their survival. Moreover, the online campaigns will be circulated for not wasting food items. Meanwhile, the government should provide subsidies over modern technology and machinery to the farmers to enhance their knowledge and grow crops without any issue.
In conclusion, the food is a crucial part of human lives and the government should provide subsidies on food products for poor people and also provide the tax benefits in modern technology to the farmers and the international organization should help the war zone countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding food distribution and war is brief and lacks specific examples or deeper analysis. The solutions provided, such as subsidies and online campaigns, are relevant but remain general. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples. The introduction is a bit repetitive, and the conclusion could more effectively synthesize the main arguments rather than just listing them again.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing war to natural disasters in the second paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'the distribution of food work are not done properly,' which is grammatically awkward and impacts the clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'subsidies,' 'tax redemptions,' and 'natural disaster.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'upgradation of machines' (should be 'upgrading' or 'advancements') and 'circulated for not wasting food' (should be 'promoted to reduce food waste'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic structures to express your points. Expanding your range of collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the distribution of food work are not done'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the natural disaster also destroy'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your band score.
