Student answer (Band 5.5)
Although agricultural technology and food production has been improved significantly, millions of people around the world still suffer from hunger. This easy will discuss the main reasons for this problem and some possible solutions.
There are several reasons such as unequal distribution of food, poverty, war and natural disasters. Although, many countries produce more food than they need, still some areas do not have proper access to that food. Many people cannot buy food even if it is available, main cause of this problem is unemployment, low incomes increase food insecurity. Inflation has affected mainly to the lower class people.
In multiple areas of world, drought and flood destroy major portion of crops. Wildfire is also a recent threat to the food resources. Consequently, people faces unavailability of food and suffer from hunger.
To solve this problem, government should invest in transportation and storage facilities. They should ensure the equal distribution of food in all areas. There must be more job opportunities to overcome the financial crisis of vulnerable people. International societies and institutes should provide aid at the time of natural disasters and the armed conflicts.
In conclusion, hunger remains a serious global issue due to unequal distribution and poverty. Government should overcome this situation by working with global organizations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the causes of global hunger, such as poverty and natural disasters, and offering solutions like infrastructure investment and international aid. However, the task achievement is heavily compromised by the length requirement. The text contains only 211 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. This under-length results in a penalty, as the ideas are presented in a somewhat generalised and underdeveloped manner. For example, while causes like drought and inflation are mentioned, they lack the extended explanation and concrete examples required for higher bands. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a basic overall progression, starting with an introduction, moving through body paragraphs discussing causes and solutions, and finishing with a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though paragraphs tend to be overly brief. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or misused, as seen in the isolated sentence fragment 'Although, many countries produce more food than they need, still some areas do not have proper access to that food.' Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of sophisticated linking words and repetitive paragraph structures keeps this criterion at Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using topic-specific terms such as 'agricultural technology', 'food insecurity', 'distribution', and 'vulnerable people'. However, there are noticeable limitations and occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'affected mainly to the lower class people' (unnecessary preposition) and 'people faces unavailability' (subject-verb agreement error). Attempts at less common vocabulary are evident, but errors in word formation and phrasing prevent the response from reaching Band 7. The lexical range is minimally adequate and fits Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing introductory dependent clauses ('Although agricultural technology and food production has been improved significantly...'). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('food production has been improved' - plural/singular mismatch, and 'people faces') and awkward phrasing like 'This easy will discuss' (spelling typo for essay). While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from rising above Band 5.
