Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by identifying causes of hunger, such as export/import bans and food wastage, and suggesting solutions like international cooperation and government price controls. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are somewhat general or under-developed. For instance, the mention of the 'USA and Iran war' is a specific example, but the explanation of how geopolitical tensions directly block agricultural food distribution could be expanded further. Overall, all requirements of the prompt are covered, earning a solid Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to link sentences and paragraphs, such as 'Moreover', 'In the recent years', and 'To cop up with these issues'. However, there are some minor mechanical links and occasional awkward phrasing, such as starting sentences with 'An other reason', which detract slightly from overall fluency, placing this criterion at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully using terms like 'malnutrition', 'hybrid vegetables', 'eradicating', and 'awareness'. There are several word choice and collocation errors, such as 'advancements have been made in agricultural sector' (missing article), 'due the several reasons' (incorrect preposition), 'forgein relations' (spelling error), and 'To cop up' (phrasal error for 'cope up' or simply 'cope'). Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, which points clearly to a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and transitional structures like 'Although advancements have been made...' and 'Prices... should be controlled... so every needy person can have access...'. There are several grammatical errors scattered throughout the text, including missing articles ('in agricultural sector', 'according to thr UN report'), incorrect prepositions ('due the several reasons'), and spelling/typographical errors ('indiviuals', 'forgein'). While these errors do not impede understanding, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, making Band 6.0 appropriate.
