Student answer (Band 5.5)

Advance technology has made significant development in the field of agriculture but still many people lives in hunger around the globe. There are several key factors that have contributed alot to this.

Firstly, poverty and unemplyment are the major cause of hunger. There are variety of goods available but people dont have enough money to buy the food for their families and secondly, unemployment also contribute a large proportion to this issue.Poeple are not getting jobs which has greaty effect the entire world. For example if a person don't have a job, how could it be possible for thim to provide the basic necessity of life including food which is essential for life.

Unequal distribution of food is another factor. Most of the cities have surplus varity of food ,people enjoy eating food according to their need and taste, while backword areas are unable to enjoy these facilities because of poor infrastructure and lack of modern transportation system. For instance urban childrens enjoy different varieties of food like pizza, burgers, chinese, italian etc but rural areas dont have this facilities available for their childrens.

Food is produced in large quantity but it is wasted in production and transporting because of poor infrastructure and bad transport.Usually material is transported through trucks and and is spoiled at dont reaches the consumer due to long hours travelling and lack of storage capacity .

In some develping countries, growth rate has increased alot and food production is limited. This also effect the whole population and most of the peoples are unable to get desired amount of food for ther survival.

In concusion, advanced development in agriculture sector is a good step but proper distribution of material, batter infrastructure and modern transportation system is necessary to provide food to every individual so he may not die due to hunger.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the task by discussing the reasons why people still go hungry despite agricultural advances and suggesting solutions. The ideas presented, such as poverty, unemployment, and unequal distribution, are relevant and supported with some explanations and examples, like comparing urban children eating pizza and burgers to rural areas lacking facilities. However, some arguments tend to be a bit repetitive or under-developed, falling short of full academic extension. For instance, the discussion on population growth and limited food production remains quite basic. Overall, the content demonstrates a clear understanding of the prompt and satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphs addressing different themes, such as poverty, distribution issues, and food waste. Transitional words like 'Firstly', 'Unequal distribution', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text. However, referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, pronouns and linking phrases occasionally lack precision ('how could it be possible for thim', 'dont reaches the consumer'). Paragraphing is generally handled adequately, but the flow between sentences inside paragraphs can feel a bit disjointed due to basic linking. This corresponds to the Band 6.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'infrastructure', 'transportation system', and 'surplus'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'Advance technology' (Advanced technology), 'unemplyment', 'dont', 'backword', 'childrens' instead of children, 'develping', and 'batter' instead of better. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The repetition of basic words further places this response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity to form subordinate clauses ('if a person don't have a job, how could it be possible...'). However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the essay. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people lives', 'population growth... have increased', 'most of the peoples'), missing apostrophes, and incorrect verb forms ('effect' instead of affect). While these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, their high frequency prevents the response from reaching a higher band score, making Band 5.0 appropriate.
