Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is true that despite significant progress in the agricultural sector, there are many people in the world today who live in hunger. This essay I will discuss the main issue associated with this trend and propose some practical solutions to address them.
There are several significant problems caused by hunger. The main issue is that in modern times, there are a lot of counties in the world whose people waste a huge amount of food on daily such as Dubai, Qutar, Saudi and so on. There are many developed countries those does not help with the poor countries with their technology and resource. As a result, most of the poor nation are suffer a serious disease due to a lack of food. Another negative consequence is that many countries cannot use advanced technology on agriculture due to a lack of funds and infrastructure, which makes the situation even more complicated. For instance, recent studies show that, more than 25% people in the world suffer in numerous diseases due to the lack of food, every year.
Nevertheless, effective steps can be taken by both the governments and individuals to tackle these challenges. First of all, developed countries should help relatively poor countries with their resource, funds and technological support, which would significantly reduce the problem. Secondly, the government should raise public awareness about food waste. As a result, these combined efforts will help to create a long-term improvement.
In conclusion, while staying hungry pose serious threats such as health problem and less productivity, it is not an unsolvable issue. By raising awareness and responsibility, this problem can be effectively managed in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the causes of global hunger (such as food waste in affluent countries like the UAE and Qatar, and a lack of technology and funds) and suggesting solutions (such as international support and raising public awareness). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the writer mentions that 'a lot of counties in the world whose people waste a huge amount of food' but fails to clearly link this directly back to why millions still go hungry globally, aside from a general statement. Examples provided, such as 'recent studies show that, more than 25% people in the world suffer in numerous diseases', are vague and unsubstantiated. The position is clear, but the ideas lack the depth and extension required for a higher band. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5.5 descriptors, touching upon all task requirements but remaining somewhat underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into a clear four-paragraph structure comprising an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is an overall logical arrangement, moving from causes to solutions. However, cohesion within paragraphs is often faulty and mechanical. The student relies on basic transition markers like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear or confusing, as seen in sentences like 'There are many developed countries those does not help with the poor countries...' where pronoun and connective use breaks down. Paragraphing is present and appropriate for the essay format, but the lack of flexible cohesive devices and occasional awkward transitions restrict the text to a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited, minimally adequate vocabulary for discussing socio-economic issues. There are attempts to use less common words and phrases, such as 'significant progress', 'agricultural sector', 'public awareness', and 'long-term improvement', but these are offset by frequent lexical errors and inappropriate word choices. Examples include 'counties' instead of 'countries', 'Qutar' for Qatar, 'poor nation are suffer a serious disease', and 'staying hungry'. Spelling and word formation errors, such as 'countries those does not help', indicate a lack of precision. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, noticeable errors cause some difficulty and prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with attempts at relative clauses ('whose people waste', 'those does not help') and conditional-like structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are numerous basic errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('countries those does not help', 'nation are suffer'), tense confusion ('this essay I will discuss'), and preposition misuse ('suffer in numerous diseases' instead of 'suffer from'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but frequent grammatical errors cause strain for the reader and prevent error-free sentences from predominating. This performance clearly sits at Band 5.0.
