Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the advancements in technology, numerous innovations are made in the agriculture field. Despite of these new introductions, many people are still with no food around the different parts of the world. The essay will address the reasons for the shortage of the food along with some measures to resolve this issue.
To commence with, people around the world are suffering from the situation of food shortage, consequently the world still go hungry. Primarily, the main reason for this issue is the price of the products available in the market. With the increasing inflation, prices of fruits, vegetables and other crops are increasing and are beyond the reach of people with low-scale income. They are not able to afford costly products from the market which force them to stay hungry. The natural disaster is another reason. The conditions like floods and draughts destroy the crops and agriculture land of the farmers. As a result, they are not able to produce sufficient amount of food as compared to increasing population. Apart from this, another reason can be the unequal distribution of eatables in regions and countries. Some get excessive amount of food stuff whereas some have to stay hungry. Therefore, this leads to the shortage of food even after the technological advancements.
Moving further, this problem can be solved with collective efforts of both the individuals and government. The government should encourage the farmers to use the modern technology for irrigation, especially who are not still familiar with it. They should provide them with some training regarding the efficient use of water. The food should be distributed equally among all the regions and countries, so that no one have to survive without it. Additionally, the food should be available in the market at a reasonable price so that it can also be made available to the persons earning low income. On the other hand, the individuals should also understand their responsibility. Everyone should make sure that food should not be wasted. For instance, nowadays in wedding functions and other lavish ceremonies lots of food is wasted. They can donate that food in the orphanage and NGO. However, with these small initiatives no one will stay hungry.
To recapitulate, although the problem of food shortage is serious, it is not insurmountable. It can be solved with the collective efforts of both the individuals and government. Therefore, some concrete steps need to be taken to eradicate this quandary and make Earth a better place to live for present as well as for future generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying clear reasons for global hunger, including inflation and product pricing, natural disasters such as floods and droughts, and unequal food distribution. Furthermore, the essay offers practical solutions, suggesting that governments promote modern agricultural technology and regulate food prices, while individuals should reduce food waste at events. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are generally well extended and supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning lavish wedding ceremonies. The content aligns well with the Band 7 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. It follows a traditional four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs covering causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to guide the reader, employing transition phrases like "To commence with", "Moving further", and "To recapitulate". However, paragraphing is somewhat broad, and referencing is occasionally mechanical, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Overall, the flow is coherent and meets the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "advancements", "inflation", "unequal distribution", and "quandary". However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as "agriculture field" instead of "agricultural field", "with no food around the different parts" instead of "in different parts", and "draughts" instead of "droughts". Despite these vocabulary slips, communication is never impeded, placing the lexical performance solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward prepositions, such as "Despite of these new introductions" (incorrect use of 'of' with 'despite'), "no one have to survive" (subject-verb agreement error with 'no one'), and "the persons earning low income". Punctuation is generally fine, but the grammatical slips in prepositional phrases and verb agreement mean that error-free sentences are not frequent enough to achieve a Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 appropriate.
