Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding why people still go hungry despite agricultural advancements and what can be done about it. Ideas such as a lack of technology, illiteracy, and government involvement are introduced, but they remain extremely limited and under-developed due to the very brief nature of the response. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is severely unmet, as the text contains only 108 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to a band score of 4.0 under the official descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a clear logical progression and adequate paragraphing. The text is fragmented into single-sentence lines and very short blocks, such as 'In sump of :', which fail to organise the ideas coherently. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, and referencing is weak. While the general topic is discernible, the overall arrangement does not demonstrate effective structural control, corresponding to a band 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'agruculture' for agriculture, 'avarg' for average, 'ilitrate' for illiterate, and 'intresst' for interest. The range is very limited, and words are often misused or lack precision, such as 'a larg number of people living avarg fecilites'. These errors and the restricted vocabulary choice strain the reader's comprehension, fitting the band 4.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text consists almost entirely of simple sentences with frequent and severe errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Agriculture play', 'Govt has also ply roll') and missing articles or copular verbs. Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, notably with spacing around commas and starting sentences. Errors are frequent and often distort meaning, reflecting a band 4.0 level.
