Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by identifying causes (such as unequal distribution, lack of government support for rural areas, and natural disasters) and proposing solutions (such as international aid and better infrastructure). The position is generally clear throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where explanations lack specific depth or elaboration. For example, the mention of Brazil lacks a clear, well-explained link to how it solves the global hunger problem. These features place the response securely at Band 5.0, as it addresses the prompt adequately but lacks the extended and fully developed support expected at higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some organizational structure, dividing the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression due to abrupt transitions and mechanical or inaccurate use of cohesive devices (e.g., 'At the first, we discuus', 'There are some solutions to overcome such type of problems'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion is often faulty, making the logical flow difficult to follow at times. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as shifting subjects rapidly without clear markers. These characteristics align with the Band 5 descriptors, reflecting basic organization with noticeable deficiencies in cohesive control.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, representing a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'rea', 'taht', 'couses', 'discuus', 'peope', 'unequall', 'thoso', 'cotroll', 'remianing', 'poupulated', 'oppurtunities', 'full fill', 'thier', 'reay', 'reasn', 'governmnt', 'supportng', 'organiszations', 'enequall') and word-choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'infrastructure' and 'international organizations', the high frequency of lexical and spelling mistakes restricts the score to Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation throughout the text (e.g., 'mostly people get the food with less effort', 'Government does not support less poupulated areas... having a great machinery', 'natural disasters having a major effects', 'no oe willl be hungry'). These frequent errors can cause strain and difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4.5 level where attempts at complex structures frequently break down and accurate sentences are in the minority.
