Student answer (Band 6.0)
Starvation is a major global problem that people are still facing despite the developments happening in the field of agriculture. The major reason behind this is inflation. This issue can be solved by building food centers for underprivilaged people to eat at a cheap price.
In today's era, economy of many countries is declining at an extreme rate. Because of that, inflation is rising day-by-day in order to keep the country running. Although this step seems necessary, it causes a lot of problems for people, especially when it comes to food. Food prices rise and many people who belong to a lower social class can't afford it. Due to this, they sleep empty stomach most nights. For instance, Pakistan is an agricultural country. This mean it's economy depends majorly on agriculture. But even after that status, the citizens are still starving there. This is not because of lack of food, but due to inflation that resulted in people facing difficulties even in buying basic necessities like sugar, bread, eggs etc.
Although the problem of solving starvation is quite difficult to deal with, there is still a possible solution for it. The countries should use the tax money to build food centers specifically for such people who can not afford it. The prices of food at such centers should be kept low. Proper identification cards should be issued to these people after a thorough investigation of their financial staus.
In conclusion, starvation is a problem that still exists even after advancement of technology. This is mainly because of factors like inflation, and it can be solved when the government puts efforts to help its people who supports it by building low-priced food centers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying a primary reason for global hunger (inflation) and proposing a clear solution (building subsidized food centers). The position is stated and maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies heavily on a single main argument regarding economic inflation and basic food items like sugar, bread, and eggs. While the example of Pakistan is relevant and adds some support, the overall discussion lacks the broader scope or multifaceted analysis often seen in higher bands. Therefore, the response aligns best with the Band 6 descriptor, as it addresses all parts of the task, but some ideas are slightly under-developed and narrow in perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas. It is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs exploring the causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct thoughts. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Although this step seems necessary', 'Due to this', and 'In conclusion', though some links feel slightly mechanical or repetitive ('This is the case', 'This issue can be solved'). Referencing is generally clear, and the flow of information remains easy to follow throughout the response. These features place the performance solidly within the Band 6 descriptor, as the writing is coherent overall despite some elementary cohesive links.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating key concepts with terms like 'inflation', 'agricultural country', 'basic necessities', and 'financial status'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but also noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'underprivilaged' instead of 'underprivileged', 'economy of many countries' missing an article, and 'empty stomach' instead of 'on an empty stomach'. Furthermore, collocations like 'sleep empty stomach' and 'puts efforts to help' show minor awkwardness. Despite these flaws, communication is never impeded, fitting the criteria for Band 6 where the vocabulary is adequate and errors in spelling and word choice do not hinder the reader's understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as concessive clauses ('Although this step seems necessary...') and relative clauses ('...specifically for such people who can not afford it'). There are several grammatical errors scattered throughout the text, including article omissions ('economy of many countries', 'after advancement of technology'), pluralisation issues, and prepositions ('supports it by building' instead of 'supports it through building'). However, these errors do not impede communication, and the complex structures attempted are mostly understandable. This performance matches Band 6, which requires a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with some persistent errors that rarely impede understanding.
