Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is the fact that many people around the world suffer from hunger despite significant advancement in agriculture technology. This problem is mainly due to unequal distribution od food and inadequate infrastructure. while improving food supply system and reduce food wastage can help to address it.

One of the main problem is that food is not distributed equally. Although, the world produce enough food to feed all the population, it is not evenly distributed, meaning that some regions have an abundance of food while other suffer from food shortage. Another problem is poor infrastructure, particularly in developing countries. Inadequate roads, storage facilities and transportation system can prevent food from reaching people in remote and disadvantage areas. For example, large quantities of edible food may be wasted in wealthy nation, while individual in developing countries may struggle to obtain sufficient nutrituos food.

There are several solutions that governments and international organizations can take to tackle this issue. Firstly, they should improve transportation networks, storage facilities and make food more accesible in backward regions. Secondly, goverments should introduce programs to overcome food wastage by encouraging supermarkets, resturants and households to invest surplus of food to food banks and charitale welfare. For instance, supermarkets could provide their unsold food to charitale organizations instead of throwing it away, allowing low-income families to benefit from it.

In conclusion, global hunger continue to exist despite of advances in agriculture because of the unevenly distribution of food and inadequate infrastructure. Improving food distribution and reducing food wastage through goverments and coumunity programmes can help to ensure that sufficient and nutritious food reaches to people who need it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying the causes of global hunger, such as unequal distribution and poor infrastructure, and offering solutions like improving transportation networks and reducing food wastage. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as the mention of food banks and supermarkets. While the introduction contains a noticeable sentence fragment ('while improving food supply system and reduce food wastage can help to address it'), the overall scope of the task is well covered. The ideas are extended adequately, leading to a solid band 6.5 level of performance for task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is coherent and presents a logical overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, causes, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, with transition signals such as 'One of the main problem', 'Another problem', and 'Firstly' helping to structure the response. However, there are some mechanical or slightly unnatural cohesive transitions and referencing issues, such as singular/plural mismatches in cohesive signposts. Overall, the logical organization is clear, and the flow is generally smooth, matching the descriptors for Band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms like 'inadequate infrastructure', 'distribution', 'edible food', and 'charitable organizations'. There are, however, some noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'od' instead of 'of', 'nutrituos', 'goverments', 'resturants', 'charitale', and 'unevenly distribution'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication, which aligns well with a Band 6.0 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with structures like conditional and relative clauses. Nevertheless, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as the incomplete opening sentence ('It is the fact that...'), pluralization issues ('wealthy nation', 'individual'), preposition errors ('reaches to people'), and verb agreement errors ('global hunger continue'). While these errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher band, they rarely impede overall communication, placing this response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
