Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, agriculture has made many advances, but many people in the world still do not have enough food to eat. This essay will discuss why this problem happens and what solutions can be done to solve it. In the forthcoming paragraph I have reasonable justification.

first of all, taking in to account some reasons of this trend , firstly poverty is a big issue. Even though food is produced, many poor families and countries do not have enough money to buy it.

Now ,considering the solution of this trend ,food distribution is often unfair. In some rich places, there is too much food and it is wasted, but in poor countries, it is very hard to transport food to rural areas because of bad roads or conflicts.

moreover, governments and organizations can take several steps. One solution is that rich countries can give financial hflelp and food supplies to poor regions. Another solution is that governments should help local farmers by giving them better technology, seeds, and training so they can grow more food in their own areas. Also, better transport systems should be built to deliver food quickly without spoiling.

In conclusion, world hunger happens because of poor food distribution. However, this can be solved if governments improve farming support and help transport food to places that need it most hungry people are the agriculture provided in food .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for world hunger, such as poverty and unfair food distribution, and potential solutions like financial aid, agricultural technology, and better transport systems. However, the response falls short of the official 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 230 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas, restricting the depth of explanation expected for a Band 6 or higher. Furthermore, the final sentence is incoherent and confusing ("hungry people are the agriculture provided in food"). Consequently, task achievement is limited by the word count and some undeveloped explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay attempts a logical organisation, introducing the topic in the first paragraph, discussing causes, and then outlining solutions. However, paragraphing is somewhat erratic and mechanical, with abrupt transitions such as "Now ,considering the solution of this trend". Cohesive devices are occasionally awkward or misused, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the repetitive use of "this trend". The final conclusion breaks down cohesively, ending with a garbled sentence that disrupts the overall logical flow. Overall, the structural arrangement shows some coherence, but mechanical cohesive devices and faulty organisation keep the score at Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a basic and repetitive vocabulary range appropriate for simple communication, featuring terms like "poverty", "food supplies", and "farmers". There are noticeable spelling and typographical errors, such as "hflelp" instead of "help", as well as spacing issues around punctuation marks. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like "financial help" and "distribution", but the range remains limited and minimally adequate. Word choice is occasionally simplistic, and the lexical errors occasionally cause minor confusion for the reader, aligning closely with the Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using dependent clauses such as "Even though food is produced..." and "...so they can grow more food...". However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors, including punctuation spacing issues, awkward phrasing, and a major breakdown in grammatical structure in the final sentence. While the basic meaning of the middle paragraphs is usually understandable, the frequency of errors and the flawed execution of complex structures place this text firmly in the Band 5 category.
