Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the causes of global hunger, such as poor distribution and lack of education, and proposing solutions like awareness campaigns and a food-distributing app. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally unclear, such as the vague mention of 'oblivious' and farmers not knowing how to use technology. While the main points are relevant, they lack deep extension and specific real-world examples. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 6, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain somewhat under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. There are noticeable issues with referencing, such as vague pronoun usage ('this', 'it'), and abrupt transitions between sentences and ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks smooth progression. For example, sentences like 'Furthermore, another reason present for this dilemma is education and oblivious as they are not aware of this kind of food' exhibit awkward connections and mechanical linking, placing the response firmly at Band 5.5, which rounds to 5.0 or 6.0 depending on overall flow. Here, it fits best at 5.5 due to mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about agriculture, technology, and food distribution. However, there is a limited range of vocabulary, and noticeable word-choice and collocation errors appear throughout the text, such as 'less efficient use of distribution', 'hungry citizen', and 'dont know to to use it'. Attempts at less common vocabulary are often inaccurate, such as using 'oblivious' as a noun. Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that recur throughout the text, such as missing articles ('a total waste'), subject-verb agreement issues ('step can be taken'), fragment sentences ('The main reason present behind this could be less efficient use of distribution and there should be various step can be taken...'), and typographical errors ('caan', 'registered themselves'). While the meaning is usually retrievable, the high frequency of errors places this performance within the Band 5.0 category.
