Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is a fact that agriculture industries rise significantaly, yet high number of people across the worls suffer from food shortage. This is mainly due to shortage of food supply in poor countries and increase amount of food crops due to global inflation. It can be solved by developed countries grant and provide enough resources to farmers to motivate them for increase production of crops such as wheat and rice.

Examining the reasons for hunger issue and food shoratge, the most common one is the increase the inflation across under developed countries. This is because farmer has to sell their crops in the higher prices, as a result poor people cannot afford basic food such as wheat and rice. Furthermore, the world population has grown rapidly, therefore issue of shortage in agricultural products spread across the world. There are many farmers leaving farming due to frequent failure of crops by unpredictable weather. Thus many farmers get significant losses and they are choosing other occupation for earning.

Alternatively, there are some preventive measures to solve given issue. The foremost solution is to provide grant to farmer, so that they can get relief from failure of crops. The government should provide discount in fertilizers and other product that used in agriculture. As a result, farmers get motivation to keep farming continue to entire life. The developed countries can solved this problem by providing enough supply of wheat and rice to poor countries. The non profitable organization should encourage wealthy people to donate food to needy people, hence issue may be solved as soon as possible.

To conclude, there are many factors that create problem of unger issue and food shortage, such as shortage of food due to increases of population. I believe that, government and wealthy people could provide grant and donation to farmers and needy people solve this problem in better way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons behind global hunger and suggesting practical solutions. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding inflation and population growth is stated rather than thoroughly explained or exemplified with strong supporting details. Similarly, the proposed solutions, such as providing government grants and NGO food donations, lack depth. The writer's position is visible, but the overall development remains basic, placing this response securely in the intermediate range for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences can feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, as seen with transitional phrases like 'Alternatively' which is used inappropriately to introduce solutions rather than an alternative view. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical use of basic connectors hinders the overall cohesion of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'inflation', 'unpredictable weather', and 'preventive measures', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'rise' instead of 'rose' or 'significantly', 'worls' for 'worlds', 'shoratge' for 'shortage', and 'unger' for 'hunger'. These lexical inadequacies and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex sentence patterns are frequently faulty, characterized by frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('farmer has to sell', 'farmers get motivation to keep farming continue'), articles, and prepositions. For example, phrases like 'in the higher prices' and 'for increase production' contain grammatical inaccuracies. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause some difficulty for the reader throughout the essay.
