Student answer (Band 5.5)

We are living in a era of advancement, and almost in every field we have seen that how science is evolving. Advancement shapes the agriculture and introduces it with modern methods, but around the globe many human-beings still do not have food. This essay will explore it's causes with reasons and provide a solution to handle this situation.

Firstly, it is evident that war and conflicts always result in mass destruction of lives and impact on the environment. Everyday we get to know that there has been a bombing on new country, and the outcome of these are the people who live there face new problems and shortage of food is the main issue. No one can survive with hunger, they need something to eat to survive. Many rescue and aid is then sent to that region, but large population hunger cannot be fulfil by this aids.

Second reason is that the distribution of food between different classes living together. In a state, there are a big differences between people who live there. Wealthy one's have access on any kind of food, while lower class people have to struggle. Elite and upper class can eat everything, depending on their craving and will, whereas, poor one's can not get ont time meal properly. Huge amount of food wasted by management of food chains, and then no food for them who cannot afford that.

On the contrary, one of the most significant solution is the government and authorities. It should be there responsibilty of managing food that will be available for everyone. Also they should propose a state policy for the distrubtion of food, by provide free of cost rations to those who cannot afford. Also they should increase a salary of labors. They should ensure that country is war free, and will not face any kind of conflicts.

In conclusion, battles always a reason for uncomfort and unsustainabilty in a region, which destroy everything. Division of food is also causing the society. In contrast, authorities role is very important for the betterment and wiping out the hunger from the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying causes of hunger, such as conflict and unequal distribution, and offering solutions like government intervention. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the points regarding war and wealth disparity are introduced, they remain somewhat superficial and lack deep extension or concrete examples from the writer's own experience, relying instead on broad generalisations. For instance, the discussion on food waste and class division lacks specific support. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop each main idea with detailed explanations and well-supported personal or global examples rather than moving quickly between points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the four-paragraph structure is logical. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'Firstly', 'Second reason', and 'On the contrary'. However, some of these cohesive links are faulty or mechanical; for example, 'On the contrary' is misused to introduce the solutions paragraph where 'On the other hand' or 'In terms of solutions' would be more appropriate. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen with pronoun ambiguity like 'It should be there responsibilty'. Progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt shifts between sentences. To improve, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between ideas and use a wider, more natural range of cohesive relationships without relying on repetitive formulas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'advancement', 'mass destruction', and 'disparity' (implied by context). However, there are noticeable issues with word choice, word form, and collocation throughout the text, such as 'it's causes' instead of 'its causes', 'fulfil by this aids' instead of 'fulfilled by this aid', and 'ont time meal' instead of 'on-time meal' or 'regular meal'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'distrubtion'. While these lexical inadequacies do not severely impede communication, they reflect a limited and sometimes inaccurate control of vocabulary and word formation, keeping the lexical score at this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability with structures like 'We are living in an era of advancement, and almost in every field we have seen that how science is evolving.' However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'in a era', 'bombing on new country', 'poor one's', 'increase a salary of labors', and 'battles always a reason'. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are persistent enough to demonstrate only limited control over complex sentence patterns and punctuation, which is characteristic of this band level.
