Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by identifying causes of hunger, such as unequal food distribution and poverty, and suggesting solutions like better distribution and government action. However, the word count of 227 words falls short of the minimum 250-word requirement, which limits the overall scope of the response. Ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly when discussing complex socio-economic factors. The position is visible throughout the text, but the development of supporting arguments lacks depth and relies on broad generalizations, placing this response firmly in the partial achievement range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is utilized, and basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly,' help to structure the points. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes mechanical or abrupt, lacking smooth progression between sentences. For instance, the transition from agricultural advancement to food distribution feels disjointed. While the logical organization allows the reader to follow the main arguments, the handling of cohesive devices remains somewhat simplistic and repetitive throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with simple terms like 'advance', 'food', and 'poor life'. There are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'distributer' instead of 'distributor', 'slike' instead of 'like', and 'orgamization' instead of 'organization'. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'cultivation' and 'financial means', but these attempts are often accompanied by inaccuracies that can cause minor difficulty for the reader. The limited range of vocabulary and frequent lexical slips prevent the response from achieving a higher rating.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions. Attempts at complex sentences, such as 'They should new scope for unemployment so that they can earn enough money...', are frequently faulty and ungrammatical. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement throughout the essay, including phrases like 'many people lead very poor life', 'food distributer ignore', and 'reduce the food waste is also helps'. These frequent grammatical errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning remains partially intelligible.
