Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many parts of the world, agriculture is developed significantly but many people still suffer from hunger. However, I believe that unequal distribution of food and poor government policies are the root causes of this concern and how through better environmental disasters and resolve government policies, this problem can be curtailed.
There are multiple causes associated with people still starvation while having good agriculture. Firstly, food is not equally distributed around the world. As some countries produce large amounts of food, while others face shortages because of poverty and lack of money. Take an example of Food Authority of Nepal, who once revealed in a conference that around 60% people are facing the hunger issues in spite of having food agriculture production. Thus, poverty is the driving force behind this problem.
Secondly, poor government policies can cause a rapid rise in this habit.Deficient regulatory frameworks and lax legal enforcement heavily exacerbate the systemic proliferation of this issue. For instance in South Africa, it is expected that by the year 2028, starvation will increase manifolds, mainly because of inadequacy of government. Hence, poor government can lead to rapid increase in hungers.
However, there are certain solutions that can be taken to curb this issue. The primary solution i believe would be fundings from government for modern farming equipment to farmers, especially in poorer countries. As it would help them to produce more food and also improve their income.Furthermore, another effective solution would be to improve government planning. As strong laws and regulations can significantly decrease this problem.
To sum up, eventhough I believe that destitution and poor government lws are wide spread in many societies, but I believe that through providing fundings and better judicial laws, this problem can be tackled.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying causes, such as unequal distribution and poor government policies, and proposing solutions like funding and better legislation. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the introduction mentions environmental disasters which are never elaborated upon in the body paragraphs. Furthermore, the examples provided, such as the Food Authority of Nepal and South Africa in 2028, are somewhat generalized and lack detailed expansion. While the writer presents a clear position throughout, some supporting arguments remain underdeveloped, placing this performance securely in the targeted band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs. Ideas are logically sequenced, beginning with causes and moving smoothly into solutions. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore', though some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'cause a rapid rise in this habit'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, yet referencing is occasionally unclear or confusing, particularly in the introduction. To reach higher bands, the writer needs to ensure seamless progression and more sophisticated management of cohesive relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main points regarding agriculture and poverty. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'systemic proliferation' and 'inadequacy', but encounters noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people still starvation' instead of 'starvation' or 'starving', and 'hungers' instead of 'hunger'. There are also awkward phrasings like 'food agriculture production'. These lexical slips and inaccuracies do not impede communication, but they restrict the score, as the range remains limited and lacks the precision required for higher levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as concessive clauses ('In spite of the advances...') and relative clauses. However, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues ('destitution and poor government lws are wide spread'), prepositional errors ('fundings from government for modern farming'), and run-on sentences with incorrect comma splices, as seen in the conclusion ('...societies, but I believe...'). While these errors are noticeable and require some effort to parse, they rarely impede overall communication, reflecting a solid mix of basic and ambitious structures with intermittent inaccuracies.
