Student answer (Band 5.5)

In todays, Decade where agriculture and technology has going rapidly increasing in this field to expand the production of crops.

Many People's still go hungry because of the prices that are increasing currently due to inflation. also, Climate change has effect the crops a lot then before. Although, Countries where peoples often even die for the hunger are mainly in Africa. Where transporting cost is getting expensive, Due to increasing Oil prices in international market, and the role that make food a bit more unafforable for poor people's is the goverment who applies tax on the imported basic needs. as example, In my country where we are currently facing crisis in tomatoes and goverment is not importing them from india because of there diplomatic issue while they are importing from other countries. Where we have to pay more and that are faraway from us which makes in less accesable for us. in addition, here a lot of wheat dealers stock it up and inflate the prices of it.

The steps that can be taken to takeover this problem are different for each state and problem. First Goverment should encourage farmers to produce more as giving them subsiduties, and help them buying seeds and provider better water system. when production increases we will be able to feed more peoples. altough, There should be a NGO in countries where the scarcty of food is that should help them to fullfill those needs. In addition, tax on basic food items should be removed and actions must be taken againts who inflate there prices for there own profits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the causes of global hunger and potential solutions, which places it securely in this category. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For example, the causes are outlined by mentioning inflation, climate change, and geopolitical issues like the diplomatic dispute involving tomato imports from India, but these points tend to be somewhat limited and lack deep extension. Similarly, the proposed solutions, such as providing subsidies and involving NGOs, are introduced but remain brief rather than fully elaborated with specific details. While the main aspects of the task are covered, the depth of explanation varies across different points, resulting in a partially developed treatment of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise ideas into logical paragraphs, with the first body paragraph focusing on causes and the second on solutions. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesion. Transition words and cohesive devices are sometimes used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting sentences with 'also,' 'although,' or lowercase conjunctions like 'as example' and 'where we have to pay.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen with ambiguous pronoun use and abrupt shifts between ideas, such as moving rapidly from international oil prices to local tomato crises without smooth transitional bridging. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better management to establish a clearer flow of information throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate the central message about agriculture and food supply issues, attempting less common lexical items such as 'diplomatic issue,' 'subsiduties,' and 'unafforable.' However, the vocabulary is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally impede smooth reading, such as 'todays, Decade,' 'scarcty,' and 'accesable.' There is also a tendency to rely on repetitive phrasing and imprecise lexical control when discussing complex economic and agricultural concepts, such as 'stock it up' instead of hoarding or stockpiling. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meanings, the frequency of lexical slips prevents the writing from achieving a more precise and flexible style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing relies on a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('agriculture and technology has going rapidly increasing'), pluralisation errors ('Many People's,' 'peoples,' 'goverment'), and missing or incorrect articles. Sentence boundaries are often blurred by incorrect punctuation and capitalization, such as starting new clauses with commas or lowercase letters mid-sentence ('due to inflation. also,' and 'basic needs. as example,'). These frequent errors in basic grammatical patterns, agreements, and punctuation place a noticeable strain on the reader, although the core meaning of the sentences can generally still be deciphered.
