Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, agriculture sector has developed but still numerous individuals around the world still suffer from scarcity of food. It has become a topic of considerable debate. This essay will examine the key reasons associated with this trend and suggest effective solutions.
One major reason is that, there has been increasingly inflation in the price of foods due to the use of advance technology or machines in the sowing, harvesting, production, and distribution of foods. This result in higher price tags in the foods when it reached the general public. As a result, people can't afford the basic food they need to sustain their life. Another pressing issue is some individuals have lost their interest in agriculture with modern life, which further lead to less workers and experts in the agriculture sector. For instance, with less number of experts in agriculture leads to less invovation in the whole process of production.
To tackle these problem, several measures can be taken. Firstly, the government can make policies not to set higher taxes on basic food which can be implemented to address the inflation on food cost. Additionally, there should be addition of compulsory subject in school related to agriculture that helps the children to learn and enhance their interest.
In conclusion, although development in the agriculture sector has experienced growth, many people still suffer from scarcity of food. It has posses serious challenges, these issues can be effectively resolved through various policies by government on taxes and addition of books or knowledge to aware the children at young age. From my perspective, these solution can be implement to resolve the above mentioned problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing reasons for widespread hunger and offering solutions, which places it securely at this level. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and uneven across the paragraphs. For example, the explanation regarding food inflation caused by advanced technology lacks specific elaboration and depth. Similarly, the point about individuals losing interest in modern agriculture is introduced but remains under-developed. To reach a higher standard, the writer would need to extend their arguments with more detailed explanations, concrete real-world examples, and a clearer overarching position that runs consistently throughout the essay, avoiding generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the response is divided into logical paragraphs. Cohesive devices are utilised to link ideas, such as using 'One major reason', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' to signal structure. However, cohesion occasionally feels mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing can be imprecise, such as the pronoun shifts and vague links between sentences. The progression of ideas is present, fulfilling the requirements of the lower band while showing glimpses of the next through its generally clear paragraphing and organisational framework. To achieve a higher band, the transitions between sentences need to feel more natural and seamless, avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to discuss the topic of agriculture and food scarcity. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'scarcity', 'inflation', and 'innovation', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'increasingly inflation' instead of 'increasing inflation' and 'invovation'. Spelling and word-formation errors occur, including 'posses' instead of 'posed' and 'implement' instead of 'implemented'. These slips do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. To move up, the writer must expand their control over less common lexical items and ensure accurate word formation and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by errors. There are noticeable grammatical issues regarding articles, plurals, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'agriculture sector has developed' lacking an article, 'higher price tags in the foods when it reached', and 'these problem'. Frequent grammatical inaccuracies are present, such as 'with less number of experts in agriculture leads to', which causes some difficulty for the reader. To progress to the next level, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free sentences, improve control over complex sentence patterns, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical agreements and article usage.
