Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the causes of hunger despite agricultural advances, such as poverty, wars, and food waste, while also offering relevant solutions including government support and better resource distribution. However, the development of these ideas is uneven. While some points are clearly introduced, others—such as the mention that 'some area of country have a plenty of food'—are presented in a list-like manner without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to fully extend and support every main idea with deeper explanations and more specific real-world illustrations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions, and a conclusion. However, the progression is somewhat disrupted by a lack of smooth transitions between sentences and ideas, making the flow feel mechanical. Cohesive devices are used, but often in a repetitive or basic way, such as starting multiple sentences with 'and also' or 'moreover.' Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries and internal grouping of ideas need better management to ensure a clearer, more logical progression throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms related to agriculture and global issues such as 'droughts and floods,' 'irrigation systems,' and 'food distribution system.' There are noticeable lexical errors, particularly with word choice, word form, and collocation, such as 'throw way much food,' 'poor peoples,' and 'no one can hungry.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect a limited and occasionally inaccurate control of less common lexical items, restricting the response to a moderate level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing relies predominantly on a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent attempts at complex sentences often resulting in faulty phrasing. There are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing or incorrect articles ('In our India agriculture,' 'a most important'), subject-verb agreement issues ('government should be help'), and incorrect prepositional usage. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of basic structural errors causes difficulty for the reader at times and keeps the grammar score restricted.
