Student answer (Band 4.5)
In today,s world the science became very suspicious in every field of life.agricultural products was not available properly in some cities and the farmers have a lack of knowledge as they work on their fields but they do not see that what the soil will accept seeds? on the one side, the farmers need to look at the conditions of soil because they planted the seeds in one place again and again as a the seeds become thick and could not grew properly this all will advantagious when farmers have a good knowledge and skills even today many people bought rice, corns from another country and about half of our agricultural side were flopped in china, there is a huge progress in agricultural fields they work with many advanced techniques as a result their fields gave fruits. on the other side, in our country some peoples do not give value to agricultural subjects and that is biggest mistake because knowledge is a key to success and help people to come out from poverty in this case, we should help farmers and share our knowledge with all of them we should told them how to protect fields from birds and ants and many other harmfull insects because this is main destroyer of fields. in my opinion, sharing knowledge is the biggest blessing because it help us and get rid out of this situation for example there are many fields of rice in front of our town but there is one farmers field did not grow well i told them some techniques and after some times the farmer got many benefits from my techniques To sum up, always help these people because they are lack of knowledge it is our duty to tell them right way

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt partially by discussing causes of world hunger such as farmers' lack of knowledge and soil conditions, and suggesting solutions like sharing knowledge and techniques, drawing on the example of China and a personal anecdote. However, the position is not always clear, and the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention of countries buying rice and corn from abroad is abrupt and lacks sufficient explanation to connect it directly to the broader issue of global hunger. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to extend and support all ideas more thoroughly, ensuring every point directly addresses the dual questions of causes and solutions with well-developed supporting arguments rather than relying on brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some basic organisation in the text, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The response is presented as a single dense block with irregular spacing and a lack of proper paragraphing, which hinders the logical flow of ideas. While the writer attempts to use transition markers like 'on the one side', 'on the other side', and 'To sum up', cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or mechanically applied. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the argument. To improve, the essay must be structured into distinct, logically ordered paragraphs where each one develops a central theme, supported by accurate and natural cohesive links that guide the reader smoothly through the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about farming and knowledge sharing. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'suspicious' (likely intended to mean advanced or scientific), 'advantagious', and 'flopped', but these demonstrate noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Other expressions like 'agricultural side' or 'biggest destroyer of fields' lack precision and natural collocation. To achieve a higher band score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range and demonstrate greater control over word choice, spelling, and collocation, using precise terms suited to an academic discussion on agriculture and global issues.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'agricultural products was not available properly in some cities and the farmers have a lack of knowledge...'. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'products was', 'farmers ... does not see'), tense consistency, articles, and punctuation. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended meaning. To progress, the student must focus on foundational grammatical accuracy, correct punctuation boundaries such as full stops, and exercise better control over verb forms and clause structures.
