Student answer (Band 6.0)
Agriculture is one of the most important industries in the world as it contributes to the global food supply and demand. However, famine is still a common phenomena all over the world, leaving majority of the people hungry.
One of the major contributing factor is the economic status of a country and of the people. In most developed countries, food is largely available to maximum of their population like that in the case of the United States. However, in case of a developing nations, access to food is not uniformly spread. This can be seen in the case for India or Africa, where the economic status of the individual has a huge impact on their availability of food. Along with this, as the population increases in certain places, especially in developing countries, it becomes difficult to meet with the demand for food.
This is one of the main problems which contributes to the death of people. There is a need to address this issue with utmost importance. There is a need for global and realistic policies set by the United Nations in order to ensure supply of food to everyone. This needs to be kept in a regular check with annual meetings for updates. Along with this, the government of each country needs to make their own set of policies and laws catering to the needs of all individuals irrespective of their economic and social status. On an individual level, one should make sure to use their resources in order to curb this issue.
To conclude, there is a need of serious focus from all levels to maintain an equal spread of access to food all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: economic inequality and population growth are offered as reasons, while international policies, national laws, and individual action are proposed as responses. These ideas are relevant, and the conclusion reinforces the need for broad action. However, the causes are more clearly explained than the solutions. For example, you note that a person’s economic status affects food access, but the proposed policies are described generally; explain how they could improve affordability, distribution, or agricultural support. The reference to “India or Africa” is also broad and would be stronger with a specific, accurate example. Developing the solutions and supporting key claims more fully would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from explaining the problem to proposing action is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Along with this” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. At times, however, linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “There is a need” in the solutions paragraph. Some references are also imprecise: “This is one of the main problems” could refer to population growth or food inequality. Use a wider range of transitions and make references explicit so that connections between ideas feel smoother and more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global food supply,” “economic status,” “access to food,” and “policies and laws.” These expressions make the main points clear, and attempts such as “uniformly spread” show an effort to express more complex ideas. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however. “Famine is still a common phenomena” is not the most precise description of widespread hunger, while “meet with the demand” and “regular check” are awkward combinations. “Maximum of their population” is also unclear. Choose more natural phrases and use specific terms for the causes and remedies; this would improve precision without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “as the population increases” and “in order to ensure supply of food.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, and the longer sentences show an attempt to connect related ideas. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “One of the major contributing factor” needs plural agreement (“factors”), and “a developing nations” has an article–number mismatch. In “leaving majority of the people hungry,” an article is needed before “majority.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, and check punctuation in longer sentences. Greater accuracy in these areas would make the argument easier to read.
