Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people around the globe dont get food daily despite the developments made in the agricultural sector. Several factors contribute to this situation. This essay will talk about what leads to this and how this problem can be solved.
While there are several advancements made in the agricultural segment people still go hungry because of the enviromental causes. Due to global warming, many agricultural vegetables and plants do not get the required climate setting . For example, Mangoes are often cultivated in the summers during the month of May- July however due to fluctuation in climate these fruits are often left raw.
Multiple actions can be taken to solve this problem. Firstly, if an household has leftover food it can be donated instead of throwing it away. This can help people having no access to food while not letting that food go waste. Secondly, initiatives can be taken by the government to provide meal boxes at the community centre for homeless people and labours. This can improve their nutritional level which could allow them to work and earn for themselves and their families. Well to do families can do weekly drives to donate vegetables and fruits. Not for profit organisations can support individuals with basic essentials in exchange of work they can do on a daily basis. These initiatives would not only feed people who go hungry but would also employ them and make them financially independent.
To recapitulate, government with the help of citizens can help in solving the problem of hunger and ensuring that every individual gets atleast 2 meals a day through continued financial and social support.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus on hunger. The explanation that climate change can disrupt crop growth is pertinent, and the proposed responses—food donation, government meal provision, and support from charities—give the essay a clear practical direction. However, the causes are less fully addressed than the solutions: environmental change is the only cause discussed, and the mango example does not clearly show how this leads to widespread hunger. Some solutions, such as exchanging essentials for work, are introduced without explaining how they could operate or reach those most in need. Develop the causes with another relevant factor, such as poverty or unequal food distribution, and explain the impact of each example more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph explaining a cause, a longer paragraph of solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help readers navigate the proposals. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the solutions paragraph contains several ideas in quick succession, including community meals, family donation drives, and work-for-essentials schemes, without grouping or developing them. “This problem” and “these initiatives” are understandable but refer broadly to multiple points. Use clearer links between each proposal and its intended effect, and consider separating or grouping related solutions to make the progression more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “agricultural sector,” “global warming,” “nutritional level,” and “financially independent.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “community centre” and “not for profit organisations.” However, some word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise: “agricultural vegetables,” “climate setting,” and “left raw” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Spelling and form errors, including “enviromental” and “dont,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise phrases such as “crop yields,” “suitable growing conditions,” and “fail to ripen,” and check spelling and standard written forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, and most of the message remains clear. For example, the conditional sentence “if an household has leftover food it can be donated” and the relative clause in “people who go hungry” show attempts to vary structure. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries: “if an household” should use the correct article, while “government with the help of citizens can help” needs a clearer article or plural subject. There are also missing commas after introductory clauses and inconsistent punctuation around examples. Review article use and agreement, and punctuate longer sentences so that the relationships between clauses are clear.
