Student answer (Band 6.0)
One of the most pressing issue which is being faced in today's contemporary society is the increasing food crisis despite the rapid advances in the domain of agriculture. There are plenty of reason for this ongoing food crisis causing people across various parts of the world leading to death in severe cases due to lack of nourishment and starvation.
The primary reason is the increasing population which is increasing rapidly. Although the population is increasing the amount of land suitable for agricultural operation is the same.Due to increasing population the agricultural lands are also being cleared for providing accomodation in order to mimimise the emergence of housing crisis. Secondly, is the lack of resource allocation in upgradation of agricultural equipments for better and more efficient agricultural decison making leading to better yields. Another concerning reason is the lack of resource allocation in the research and development of agriculture.
Agriculture is the backbone of every economy and country .Negligence in this particular sector not only jeopardises the livelihood of people but also causes the downfall of a country's economy in the long run. This issues can be resolved by increasing the resource allocation into research and development of technology dedicated for agriculture and modern techniques enhancing the productivity and efficiency in the agricultural domainleading to better results. Secondly, policy makers should priortise on expanding agricultural land instead to allocating it for residential purposes. This would minimise the problems which is being faced currently by people across several parts of the world.
To summarise to the points, Advancements in fields of agriculture is evident and is in better condition but better implementation and allocation of the resources at ground level would aid in minimising food crisis faced my numerous people across the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus on why hunger persists and how it might be reduced. The causes you identify—population growth, conversion of farmland to housing, and insufficient investment in agricultural equipment and research—are pertinent. You also propose increased research funding and prioritising agricultural land. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, you do not show how population growth translates into food shortages, or how research and technology would improve access to food. The solutions also focus mainly on production and land use, with little attention to distribution or affordability. A more developed explanation and a specific example would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from causes to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The primary reason,” “Secondly,” and “To summarise” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some control of organisation. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated sequencing words, and the relationship between ideas is not always made explicit. For instance, the discussion of population growth moves quickly from rising numbers to land conversion without explaining the connection. Some sentences also run ideas together, making paragraph flow less smooth. Use a wider range of links and clearer references to connect each cause to its consequence and proposed solution.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “food crisis,” “resource allocation,” “research and development,” “livelihood,” and “productivity.” These choices show an effort to use more formal and less common language, and the main meaning remains clear. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “agricultural operation,” “better agricultural decision making,” and “expanding agricultural land instead to allocating it.” There are also spelling errors, including “accomodation,” “mimimise,” and “priortise,” which reduce accuracy. Repeated use of “increasing,” “agriculture,” and “resource allocation” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling; precise terms such as food distribution and access could also broaden the discussion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning with “Although” and “which,” and most ideas can be understood. However, some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For example, “One of the most pressing issue” needs a plural noun, while “There are plenty of reason” also requires plural agreement. “Secondly, is the lack of resource allocation” is an incomplete construction, and “This issues can be resolved” has a demonstrative–noun agreement error. Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent sentence boundaries also affect accuracy. Review agreement and make sure each sentence has a clear subject and verb. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
