Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people still go hungry despite advances in Agriculture and this is often due to climate change. It is imperative to note that this essay will acknowledge how important these technological advances is to our world and the thrust will be focused on why hunger persist despite this advances. The essay will also give relatable examples to drive home my ideas and hiw to curb with the situation.
Technological advancement has enormous impact to the growth of Agriculture. Agricultural technologies such as tractors, ploughs, harvesters etc have replaced manual farming and have increased enormously the output of farming as against the negligible output of manual farming. This is because these technologies can perform tasks in ten folds without a break something that an average man cannot do. Inspite of this progression, great proportion of people still go hungry.
The progressive increase in human population as against the retrogressive availability of these modern agricultural technologies have made it seemingly hard for farmers to bridge the huge gap for food demand as a result of population growth. The national bank of Agriculture in Nigeria released a statistics that Nigeria is undersupplied with Agricultural technologies like tractors to help manage the ever increasing demand for food and they clearly identified lack of subsidization of theses technologies make it very exorbitants for even large scale farmers to buy hence the surging hunger.
It is imperative to also note that climate change is another overriding factor as towhyy people still go hungry despite technological advancement. The ministry of Environment for instance in Nigeria came up with a surprising data that shows in 2012 that Nigeria loses about 50 percent of her Agricultural produce to climate change and post harvest waste, pointing out that the North-eastern fringes of the country that produces a reasonable proportion of Agricultural produce in Nigeria normally around the lake chad region can not turn up as in the past due to climate change and lack of irrigation ad the lake chad have shrinked by over 90 percent due to climate change in the past 35 years.
In conclusion, it's unfortunate we are stil living hungry despite Advancement in Agricultural technology due to increasing population and climate change. However, we hope the government could respond to this through policies enactment that could control birth rate and stabilise population and also come up with innitiatives that will also help mitigate climate change and finally stop post harvest waste that could bridge the hunger gap to a reasonable extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear focus on why hunger persists despite agricultural progress. Population growth, limited access to machinery, climate change and post-harvest waste are relevant causes, and the Nigeria examples add specific support. The conclusion also proposes responses, including population policies, climate mitigation and reducing waste. This fully covers the task and shows some development beyond a basic list of ideas. However, the solutions receive less explanation than the causes: for example, you do not explain how climate initiatives or waste reduction could be implemented. Some claims, such as the link between controlling birth rates and reducing hunger, would benefit from clearer reasoning. Develop each proposed measure and connect it explicitly to the problem it addresses.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs explaining causes, and a conclusion with proposed action. The progression from technology and population pressure to climate-related losses is generally understandable, and phrases such as “In conclusion” help signal the ending. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated openings such as “It is imperative to note,” and the introduction promises an essay plan rather than moving directly into the argument. Some links between ideas are unclear: the paragraph on machinery shifts from increased output to population growth without a sufficiently explicit transition. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, vary linking expressions, and make references such as “these technologies” and “this progression” unmistakably clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “agricultural technologies,” “irrigation,” “population growth,” “climate change” and “post-harvest waste.” Some less common choices, such as “undersupplied” and “mitigate,” show an effort to express ideas precisely. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “curb with the situation,” “in ten folds,” “surging hunger” and “policies enactment.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “innitiatives,” “exorbitants” and “hiw” also reduce control. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they make parts sound unnatural. Prefer established collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect clauses and longer sentences explaining population pressure and climate impacts. The main meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction remain. For example, “these technological advances is” should be “these technological advances are,” while “hunger persist” needs “hunger persists.” In “the lake chad have shrinked,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the verb form is incorrect. Several long sentences also lack clear punctuation, making relationships between clauses harder to follow. Aim to retain complex structures but divide sentences when they contain several claims, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and verb forms.
