Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite significant advances in agriculture and modern technology, many people around the world still suffer from hunger. This problems occurs for severa reasons, including povert, unequal fooddistribution and natural disasters, However , governments and individuals can take steps to reduce it.
There are several reasons why people still face hunger. The main reason i spovert, as amny people cannot for their families. Althpugh farmers produce large amounts of food, it is not always distributed equally among people. Another important cause is natural disasters, ehich crops and reduce food production. Furthermor, wars and political conflicts force people to leave thier homes and farms. For example, people living in war-affected countries may struggke to find basic food an clean dinking water.
To solve this problem, governments should take effective measures. Firtsly, they should provide financial support and food supplies to poor families. Secondly, modern farming methods should be introduced to increase agricultural production. Farmers should also recieve training and acess to better equipment , qualitu seeds and water supplies, In addition, governments and charitable organisations should prove food distribution sysytems and provide emergency assisitance to people affected by disasters. For example, food banks can collect extra food supermarkets and distribute it to needy families instead of allowing it to go to waste.
In Conclusion, hunger remains a serious global problem despite improvements in agriculture. Poverty, uneaqual food distribution, natural disaasters and conflicts are its major causes, I believe that governments, farmers and chartiable organisations must work together to ensure that everyone has access to sufficient and nutritous food .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear focus on hunger throughout. The causes are relevant and varied: poverty, unequal distribution, disasters, and conflict. You also propose practical responses, including support for poor families, improved farming, training, and food banks; the supermarket example helps make one solution concrete. This meets the task well, while some points remain more listed than explained. For instance, you identify poverty as a main cause but do not explain in detail how low incomes prevent access to food, and the farming proposals could be linked more explicitly to affordability or local availability. Develop one or two key ideas further with a clear explanation of how each measure reduces hunger, and support them with a specific example where possible.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from causes to responses is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In addition” help guide the reader. The conclusion also returns to the main points. Some linking is mechanical, however, because several ideas are introduced through a sequence of list-like transitions. The opening sentence of the causes paragraph also contains a damaged explanation, which interrupts the flow between the topic sentence and the supporting points. Use clearer references and vary how you connect ideas—for example, explain how unequal distribution relates to poverty—so the relationships between points are more explicit and less dependent on sequencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “agricultural production,” “food distribution,” “political conflicts,” “emergency assistance,” and “food banks.” This gives the response an appropriate range for discussing the issue, and most intended meanings can be understood. However, spelling errors are noticeable throughout, including “povert,” “disaasters,” and “nutritous,” and some word choices or combinations are inaccurate, such as “prove food distribution systems” and “produce large amounts of food” where more precise phrasing would help. These slips reduce clarity and control. Proofread carefully, especially for spelling, and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise vocabulary for access, supply, and distribution would also help you express the causes and solutions with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “Although” and a relative clause in “people living in war-affected countries may struggle…”. The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven, and several sentence-level errors make parts difficult to read. For example, “The main reason i spovert, as amny people cannot for their families” is incomplete and lacks a clear verb structure; the opening sentence also has faulty punctuation between clauses. There are further problems with sentence boundaries and commas, such as the long solution sentence ending “water supplies, In addition…”. Build complete clauses before adding detail, check subject–verb and verb-pattern choices, and use full stops to separate independent sentences. Careful editing of punctuation would make your range more effective.
