Student answer (Band 4.5)
I can agree with this sentence. Agriculture occupies an important role in every country of this world. Despite this situation we can see a lot of countries around the world with poor people where they don't care for their health or they don't have money to buy food.
I can give a relevant example from Romania. Agriculture is very important and we import and export an incredible number of vegetables, fruits and cereals. We have people in our villages who work the sand and plant seeds after the winter time because they know very well when the weather is favourable and when the seeds will grow transforming all their hard work to an organic and healthy food. Because the economy is poor and the salary is not what we expect in the country, citizens try to work hard to gain more money, selling their food, being behind their families and eating healthy. Because they are a community, it's crucial for them to be each others, helping people around them, their kids, friends, families and neighbours. All of them are very close and try to work together for a better life.
Because I live in UK in present, I can see a similar situation with the agriculture near the cities. We try as best as possible to eat organic vegetable and food and usually we help he local farms around us, buying the best food. This is very important for us and I consider the weather is the second factor after the agriculture in each country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response makes a general connection between agriculture and food, and the examples from Romania and the UK show an attempt to draw on personal knowledge. However, it only minimally answers the two questions. It does not clearly explain why people remain hungry despite agricultural advances; poverty and low salaries are mentioned, but their link to hunger is not developed. The proposed actions are also unclear: helping local farms and communities is described, but not explained as a solution to hunger on a wider scale. The opening, “I can agree with this sentence,” does not establish a clear position or answer the prompt. To improve, explain specific causes such as unequal access, food prices or distribution, then give practical measures and show how they address those causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some organisation: the response begins with a general statement, then gives a Romania example and a UK comparison. However, the ideas are not arranged in a clear progression that answers the prompt’s cause-and-solution structure. The long Romania paragraph moves between farming practices, low salaries, selling food and community relationships without making the links between these points clear. Repeated openings such as “Because” also make the connections feel mechanical, while “Despite this situation” does not clearly identify what situation is being contrasted. Use separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and make each paragraph develop one main point with clear links between the example and the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a basic but relevant range, including terms such as “agriculture,” “cereals,” “favourable,” “organic” and “community.” These help communicate the general topic, and the Romania and UK examples provide some variety. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “work the sand” does not clearly describe farming, “being behind their families” is unclear, and “to be each others” is not a natural expression. The vocabulary also repeats broad terms such as “food” and “important” rather than naming the causes and solutions precisely. Build a more topic-specific range and check that phrases sound natural in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because” and a sentence describing farmers planting seeds after winter. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often difficult to follow because clauses are joined without clear grammatical control. Examples include “Because the economy is poor and the salary is not what we expect in the country, citizens try to work hard to gain more money, selling their food, being behind their families and eating healthy,” where the relationships between actions are unclear, and “Because they are a community, it's crucial for them to be each others.” There are also errors in articles, agreement and sentence construction, as in “help he local farms.” Practise shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with clear subjects and verbs.
