Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is conisder that despite in major improvements in modern farming, million of people around the world do not enough food to eat. This essay will the main causes of this issue and suggest possible solution.

On the one hand, one major for hunger is poverty. Although farmers can produce a large amount of food whcih is easily avabile at a market, but many people can not afford to buy it because they have low income salary or no jobs. Another essentail cause of this obstacle is the unequal distribution of food. In some countires, a large quantity of meal wasted by resturants, hotels and household, while poor people are struggling to find one time meal. Moreover, milllions of individuals die due to hunger because of wars, climate change and flooding prevent farmers to cultivation for producing food, especiallly in Africa.

On the other hand, there are several ways to address this issue. Firstly, government should provide fincanail support to families with low wages and create job opportunites, so that people can afford their basic nessities. Secondly, they should improve food transportation and food storage to reduce meal waste and deliver it remote areas. In addition, many internatonal organizations such as WHO and UNICEF should provide food supplies to areas effected by wars, climate change and flooding to ensure that no one can die beause of hunger. LIkewise, farmers should also be given modern eqipmetns, better seed and training for the increasing of producation.

In conclusion, hunger continue to exist becuase of unrqual distributuon, wars, and environmental problems. However, support from govrnment and international organization and farmers can work together to reduce the waste, improve agricultue production and ensure that everyone have basic meal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus: poverty and unemployment limit people’s ability to buy food, while conflict and environmental events disrupt farming; your proposed responses include financial support, better storage and transport, emergency food aid, and farmer training. This breadth meets the task well. The explanation of unequal distribution is relevant, but the link between food waste and hunger could be made more explicit, and the effects of conflict and climate events are listed rather than developed with a specific example. Your solutions are also somewhat general: explain how a measure would reach affected people or improve access. The conclusion restates the main causes and responses, though it could synthesise the argument more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph proposing solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from causes to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Firstly,” and “In conclusion” help readers navigate the argument. You also connect ideas with “Although,” “Moreover,” and “so that.” At times, however, the linking is formulaic, and the opening “Although … but” uses two contrasting signals together. Some relationships between points could be clearer—for example, connect food waste more directly to unequal access, and distinguish the effects of war from those of flooding. More precise referencing and less reliance on stock transitions would make the flow more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “unequal distribution,” “food transportation,” “food storage,” “job opportunities,” and “climate change.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “conisder,” “avabile,” “fincanail,” and “produ cation.” Several collocations are also unnatural, such as “low income salary,” “one time meal,” and “for the increasing of production.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More accurate use of terms such as “low-income households,” “a daily meal,” and “increase agricultural output” would make your meaning clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional-purpose structure in “so that people can afford their basic necessities” and a relative clause beginning “which.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “Although … but” combines incompatible structures, “government should provide” needs a determiner or plural subject, and “hunger continue” does not agree in number. The final sentence also shifts awkwardly between singular and plural forms. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural nouns during proofreading.
