Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify a relevant cause—loss of farmland—and begin to explain how it can reduce food availability. However, the response addresses only the causes: the task also asks what can be done, and no remedies are presented. The ideas are very briefly developed; for example, the claim that land is converted into “different societies” is not clearly explained, and the machinery example ends before its consequence is fully stated. The introduction promises to discuss both problems and solutions, but the essay does not fulfil that promise. The response is also 99 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain both parts with reasons and examples. Develop several causes and practical solutions, supporting each with clear explanation or an example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction followed by a paragraph beginning “To begin with the problems,” and it uses signposting such as “For instance” and “The other major factor.” These features help the reader identify the topic and follow the examples. However, there is no developed progression to the solutions or a conclusion, and the paragraph stops mid-idea, so the overall argument feels incomplete. Some linking is mechanical or awkward: “While there are several reason related to this concern, but…” combines two contrasting structures unnecessarily. Build separate, complete paragraphs for causes and remedies, use clear references between ideas, and finish each example by explaining how it contributes to hunger.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “cultivated land,” “pesticides,” “farming,” and “production,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “prime reason” and “adequate remedies.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand: “issuer” appears to mean “issue,” “different societies” is unclear in context, and “foood” is misspelled. “Agricultural evolution” is also an unnatural way to describe advances in farming. Aim for precise collocations such as “agricultural development,” “arable land,” and “food production,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening with “While” and cause-and-effect clauses using “so” and “This may lead to.” However, the complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “science has make more progress” has an incorrect verb form, while “the shortage of agricultural fields” is not formed as a complete explanation after “one prime reason is.” In “the cultivated land are converted,” the subject and verb do not agree. The sentence beginning “For example, you have not…” also shifts to direct address and is grammatically unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
