Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are lots of advances took place in agriculture sector but still now many people in the world survive with shortage of food. The biggest problems caused by this phenomenon is political; I also consider that providing an adequate amount of funding by wealthy countries is the most viable solution.
To begin with, one of the major problems caused by people around the world live hungry is that political turmoil. There is no stable government in the most of the poor countries in the world and as a result they are unable to buy modern agricultural equipment, such as tractor, water pump, seewing machine and modern fertiliser. So, they do not apply advance agricultural technology to their farming and do not produce enough crops to survive. Recent research concluded by United nation showed around 10-12 countries in Africa grow their crops by used ancient farming techniques, that's why they are unable to produce enough food.
On the other hand, I sending fund from rich countries is a potential solution. If the wealthy countries take initiative to sent proper amount of money and food to those countries still survive in food shortage, will be helpful to their people and government. Firtsly, the money that they get, will be used to buy modern farming equipment, and will be able to produce necessary amount of food. Secondly, the food that they get, will be distribute to their people, and solve their current problem,
In conclusion, although the problem caused by people in the world go hungry is political; step such as managing proper funding will be deal with this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and give a clear overall position: you identify political instability as a cause and funding from wealthier countries as a solution. The explanation that unstable governments cannot obtain modern equipment, limiting crop production, is relevant, and you offer two possible uses for aid. However, the response develops the cause more than the solution, and the proposed funding and food distribution are asserted rather than explained in detail. The example about African countries using older farming methods is relevant but needs clearer support and a more precise link to political turmoil. To strengthen the response, explain other contributing factors, such as conflict disrupting transport or unequal food distribution, and show how aid could be managed effectively and sustainably.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the cause and solution, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the main stages. Overall progression is clear, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “one of the major problems caused by people around the world live hungry is that political turmoil” makes the relationship between the topic and the cause difficult to follow. The solution paragraph also shifts from funding to food distribution without explaining how these actions relate. Use clearer topic sentences and link each supporting point explicitly to the question; ensure pronouns and references such as “they” have an unmistakable referent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “political turmoil,” “agricultural equipment,” “farming techniques,” and “food shortage,” which gives you enough range to discuss the issue. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “adequate amount of funding” and “modern agricultural technology.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “seewing machine” appears to be an unsuitable example of farm equipment, while “grow their crops by used ancient farming techniques” is awkward. Repetition of “food,” “countries,” and “produce” also limits flexibility. Choose precise examples and check collocations and spelling; for instance, distinguish between providing emergency food aid and investing in agricultural infrastructure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure beginning “If the wealthy countries take initiative…” and a cause-and-effect sentence with “as a result.” This shows some range, but errors in sentence construction and verb forms recur and occasionally make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “There are lots of advances took place” combines incompatible verb patterns, and “If … will be helpful” leaves the conditional sentence without a correctly formed main clause. Agreement and articles also need attention, as in “The biggest problems … is political” and “in the most of the poor countries.” Practise building complete conditional sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
