Student answer (Band 5.5)

Although agricultural technology has improved with high qualify machinery and better fertilizers but hunger remains a major global issue.

There are a number of reasons why food is not fairly reached to everyone. In developed countries, the people wasted alot of food. Rich people buy plenty of food from supermarkets and then they used half of the food and throw the entire half food to bins. Developed countries have no easily access to the food because of some reasons. They face difficulties in transportation and preservation methods of the food. In some countries the price of the meat and the other foods are extremely high that poor people can not afford these things. That's why they remains hungry. The climate disasters also have bad effect on crops. Bad weather conditions destroy the crops. A vast range of food crops damaged because of the floods and heavy rainfall.

We can solve these problems in some ways. First, governments should make better roads and cold stores to keep food fresh. We should stop wasting food. In rich countries, people should restricked to waste food. The government donate food to NGO's and charities so that, the poor people can get the food easily. In the feild of agriculture, the farmers should focus on the better infrastructure of farming or growing crops. So that they can be able to grow more crops even in bad weather conditions. They should know how to secure food crops in floods or heavy rainfall. This method can increase the amount of food crops in the country.

In the conclusion, farmers use better machinery in yeild crops but many people in the world remain hungry. Program like EHSAAS in Pakistan is very helpful for poor people to buy the food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions by identifying causes—food waste, transport and storage difficulties, high prices, and crop damage from severe weather—and suggesting responses such as better roads, cold storage, food donations, and more resilient farming. The Pakistan Ehsaas example also makes the response more specific. However, the discussion remains partly under-developed: the point that developed countries have difficulty accessing food is unclear, and the link between agricultural advances and continuing hunger could be explained more directly. Some solutions are listed without showing how they would reach the people most affected. Clarify the causes and develop a few key solutions with explanation or examples to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument, and signposts such as “First” and “In the conclusion” indicate the stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the shift from food waste in developed countries to their supposed difficulty accessing food is confusing, and several ideas are placed together without explaining their relationship. Repeated references to “food” and “crops” also make the writing feel list-like. Group related points more clearly and use linking phrases to show cause and effect, rather than relying mainly on simple sequencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fertilizers,” “transportation,” “preservation,” “floods,” and “infrastructure,” which allows you to discuss agriculture and food distribution. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “cold stores” and “climate disasters.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear: “high qualify machinery,” “food is not fairly reached,” and “better infrastructure of farming” are examples. Spelling and word-form errors such as “restricked,” “feild,” and “yeild” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms so your vocabulary communicates ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “people who…,” and the response is generally understandable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Although … but hunger remains” combines two contrasting structures; “they used half of the food and throw” shifts tense; and “the government donate food” lacks correct subject–verb agreement. Other examples include “they remains hungry” and “people should restricked to waste food.” Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Proofread specifically for agreement, tense consistency, and complete sentence structure.
