Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern world where technology advancement plays a huge a role in shaping world in different way , in this modern world agriculture sector has also seen vast amount of change in technology of agricultural machines through that changes machines have become more advanced and efficient compare to humans whihc helps farmers to grow crops in most efficient and quickest way possible.

however also after the advances many people around the world would still go hungry because as a sector advances in technology or machinery the cost of making and growing crops also increases significanlty by huge margin which makes it hard for people to afford food those who suffer from poverty , moreover people suffer from hunger more in third world countries in which advances might not be available as it is expensive so thats why advances in technology not really makes a difference and many people would still go hungry in third world countries where technology advances are not used yet, moreover income inequality also plays a huge role in which poor people suffer most and people around the world still go hungry , furthermore technlogical advancement leads to lesser jobs for people whihc leads to higher number of unemployment leading to poverty which results to more hunger.

however this problem can be solved if governements and united nations look up to this problem as everyone should get basic needs which are essential to survive subsidies should be provided to farmers so people can get food at cheaper price and can afford it also governments should conduct drives and charitable organizers to feed the needy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions and give relevant causes, including the cost of production, unequal access to technology, poverty and unemployment. You also suggest government subsidies and charitable food provision. However, the response only partially develops these points: for example, the claim that advanced machinery raises food prices is not explained or supported with an example, and the proposed actions are listed without showing how they would reach hungry people or address the causes identified. The position is understandable, but the discussion remains broad and some links between technology, jobs and hunger are asserted rather than clarified. To strengthen the response, explain two causes in more depth and connect each solution directly to a specific cause, using a relevant example where possible.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall structure: the opening introduces agricultural technology, the next section discusses reasons for hunger, and the final section offers solutions. This helps the reader identify the response to both questions. However, progression within the long middle section is difficult to follow because several causes are joined in one extended sentence, and the repeated use of “moreover” and “however” makes linking mechanical. The opening also repeats “in this modern world,” while the final paragraph moves quickly from government action to subsidies and charity. Use separate paragraphs for distinct causes and solutions, and make each paragraph develop one main point with clear references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “agricultural machines,” “poverty,” “income inequality,” “unemployment” and “subsidies,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “basic needs” and “charitable organizers.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “advances,” “people” and “technology,” and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, including “huge a role,” “third world countries” and “charitable organizers.” Spelling errors such as “significanlty” and “technlogical” also reduce control. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling; for instance, distinguish food affordability from food availability when explaining the causes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine ideas using subordinate clauses and cause-and-effect structures, as in “which makes it hard for people to afford food” and “which results to more hunger.” However, complex sentences are often faulty or run on, particularly in the opening and the long paragraph beginning “however also after the advances.” These sentences contain unclear clause boundaries, missing or misplaced punctuation, and errors in articles and agreement, such as “a huge a role” and “the cost … increases.” Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Build accuracy by using shorter sentences, checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb, and then adding a few controlled complex structures.
