Student answer (Band 5.5)
Despite of several advancements made in the field of agriculture including machinery, improved fertilizers, many people around the world suffer from hunger. This problem is mainly caused by the unequal food distrubution, poverty and political instability.
One of the main reasons why hunger remains widespread is the poverty. Although farmers are using the modern technology and producing a higher amount of food but it does not reach the target areas. It is the responsibility of government and law enforcement agencies to create such system where there is equal distribution among the people so none of them suffer from hunger.
Nowadays, we are facing a geopolitical crisis which is a major contributing factor for ignorance of such issues. Some countries produce a plenty of food but unable to transport them to the countries producing less food. Food is mostly consisting of perishable items which cannot be stored more than its shelf life. Natural disasters also contribute to the destruction of crops and not producing the enough food to exclude the poverty.
Humanity demands all of us to stand together and help each other whenever needed. One of the recommendations to tackle such situation is to transport the food to the required area. Strongs laws should be implemented and policies needs to be created to support the citizens financially. For example, Government should impose such policy that if the food product is near to its expiry date, it must be discounted so the people with less resources can also afford and have food for their family.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions and identify relevant causes, including poverty, unequal distribution, political instability, and transport difficulties. You also offer responses such as improving food delivery, creating supportive policies, and discounting food near its expiry date. However, the explanation is only partly developed: the link between poverty and hunger is asserted rather than explained, and the discussion of geopolitical crises and natural disasters is brief. The proposed discount policy is a useful example, but its likely impact is not explored. The opening also lists political instability, yet this cause receives little direct explanation. To strengthen the response, explain how each selected cause leads to hunger and develop fewer solutions with clearer details about how governments or aid organisations could implement them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to causes and then to possible solutions. Paragraphs generally group related ideas, and signposts such as “One of the main reasons” and “For example” help readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the paragraph about poverty shifts quickly from food production to government responsibility, while the next combines geopolitical crises, transport, perishability, and natural disasters. Connections between these points are not always made explicit, and the conclusion is absent, so the response ends with an example rather than a clear summary. Organise the causes and solutions into more focused paragraphs, use linking phrases to show cause and effect, and finish by restating the main response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “unequal food distribution,” “political instability,” “perishable items,” and “shelf life.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue specifically. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, or collocation errors affect naturalness, such as “distrubution,” “Strongs laws,” “a plenty of food,” and “exclude the poverty.” Some phrases are also vague or imprecise, including “target areas” and “such situation.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding difficult vocabulary: for example, describe food as being “distributed to areas in need” and policies as “providing financial support.” Proofread spelling and check unfamiliar expressions in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “Although” and a conditional example beginning “if the food product is near to its expiry date.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For instance, “Although farmers are using … but it does not reach” incorrectly combines “although” and “but,” while “Some countries produce a plenty of food but unable to transport them” lacks a clear subject and has agreement problems. There are also errors in forms such as “policies needs to be created” and “more than its shelf life.” Practise building one clear clause at a time, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and pronoun reference, then combine clauses only when their grammatical relationship is clear.
