Student answer (Band 5.5)
Although there is huge advances made in agriculture, millions of people in the world still suffers from famine. One of the reasons that this is happening is, prices of some foods and the food distribution. In some poor countries, people still can't pay with their own way. There is a lack of employment and jobs in the poor countries even if the agriculture has developed. Some people barely even get wage for bread, doing loan of works everyday. For instance, doing someone's household tasks and getting low salary from it. In poor countries, salaries are too low and the living expenses are so high.
However, in some countries, like America, overall salary is huge. Therefore, even the prices of the food were too expensive, it would not be a huge problem as their monthly income is good. Compared to poorer countries, wealthy nations like this doesn't really suffer from hunger, and it is not seems as an issue for them. This success, i believe, is about good political organization and support. If the nation is doing well, probably the people who are working for their country, such as president are doing good work. However, nations which have a huge poverty problem are suffering because of the wrong environmental control, not having enough support from the people who work in the organization of that country.
To reduce this problem, I personally think that neighbour countries should give some support to the suffering countries. For instance providing them with not only food, energy resources, but to teach how to control financial distributions. If the 2 countries worked together , eventually this issues can be solved

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions by identifying affordability, employment, income inequality and political support as factors, then proposing assistance from neighbouring countries. These are relevant starting points, and the example of low-paid household work helps illustrate how poverty limits access to food. However, the causes are not always clearly explained: the discussion of wealthy countries’ salaries and political organisation takes space without showing precisely how these factors lead to hunger. The proposed solution is also brief and broad; “food, energy resources” and teaching financial distribution need clearer explanation of how they would improve food access. Develop a smaller number of causes and solutions with specific links and examples to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces causes, contrasts poorer and wealthier countries, and ends with a proposed solution. Transitions such as “However,” “Therefore,” and “To reduce this problem” help signal changes in direction. Nevertheless, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven. The move from food prices to employment, then to the United States and political organisation, makes the central explanation difficult to follow. Some links are also unclear, as in “If the nation is doing well, probably the people…” and “If the 2 countries worked together.” Organise each paragraph around one main point, and use clearer references to show how each example supports it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “food distribution,” “living expenses,” “poverty,” and “financial distributions,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less clear. For example, “suffers from famine” is too strong for the general issue of hunger, while “pay with their own way” and “doing loan of works” are not natural expressions. “Environmental control” is also unclear in the context of national causes. Build a more precise set of phrases for food insecurity, income and governance, and check that verbs and nouns combine naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “If the 2 countries worked together” and a contrast introduced by “even if.” However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and in the more ambitious structures, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “there is huge advances,” “millions … still suffers,” and “wealthy nations … doesn’t,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Other problems include “it is not seems” and “even the prices … were too expensive,” which show difficulty controlling verb forms. Practise agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
