Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the recent times, there are great advancements in the field of agriculture have been seen. But, stil many people go hungry, this can be due to many reasons.

There is no doubt about inreasing yield of crops and advancements in technology. However, most of the people sleep without having any meal. The main factor for this is population. After controlling dieases spread and mortality rate overall in the entire world, World population has increased to a large number in recent times. The demand for edibles has risen sharply. There is no plenty of food production to feed all humans. This causes scarce situation and many of the people in world are dying because of hunger.

The other reason, is food storage. Rich people all around the globe eager to earn more money. They buy food from local people at low prices and store it in large storage houses waiting for the prices to go high. So, they can sell these items at high rate to generate handsome amount of money. When prices for things go high, it's very hard for poor people to buy anything to eat. This causes them to stay hungry for long time.

To cope with this kind of situation, The government should step forward and take necessary actions. First of all, government should put a ban on stroring food. If any body is found doing so, high fines and imprisonment should be imposed. Secondly, there should be awareness about family planning to have only 2-3 kids. This will definitely contribute to overall world population control and decrease rate of deaths because of hunger.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions by identifying population growth and food storage/speculation as causes, then proposing government restrictions and family planning. These are relevant ideas, and the explanation of how higher prices affect poorer people gives one cause a clear consequence. However, the discussion is uneven: the claim that population growth means there is not enough food production is asserted rather than supported, and the food-storage explanation would benefit from a concrete example or clearer explanation of how this occurs. The solutions are also brief; a ban and penalties are stated, but their feasibility and likely impact are not explored. Develop each main point with a specific example and explain how each proposed measure would reduce hunger.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs explaining causes, and a final paragraph offering solutions. The progression from population growth to food storage and then to government action is easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “The other reason” and “First of all” to guide the reader. At times, however, connections feel mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “This causes scarce situation” does not clearly identify the precise link between production and hunger. The final paragraph also moves quickly between two solutions without developing the relationship between them. Use more precise linking and refer back explicitly to the relevant cause when explaining each solution.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “agriculture,” “yield of crops,” “mortality rate,” “storage houses,” and “family planning.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “generate handsome amount of money,” though this collocation is not natural in this context. Several word-choice and spelling errors reduce precision, including “edibles” for food, “scarce situation,” “stroring,” and “dieases.” Some phrases are also vague or awkward, such as “things go high” and “a large number” when referring to prices or population. Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling; prefer natural collocations such as “food supplies,” “food shortages,” and “prices rise.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If any body is found doing so…” and a time clause beginning “After controlling…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “there are great advancements … have been seen” combines two sentence patterns, while “There is no doubt about inreasing yield” lacks a clear grammatical construction. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “The main factor for this is population. After…” and “government should put a ban.” Aim to form complete clauses consistently, use articles where needed, and proofread punctuation. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
