Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant causes, including poverty, large families with low incomes, environmental pressures and the cost of food, and you suggest government support for poor people and farmers. However, the explanations are often unclear or insufficiently developed: for example, the link between melting glaciers and agricultural losses is not explained, and the reference to “communism counties” is difficult to interpret. The proposed solutions are also brief and do not clearly show how they would reduce hunger. The response is 240 words, so it is 10 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main cause and solution with a clear explanation or relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the answer. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several causes are introduced without clear links, and some sentences seem to shift topic abruptly—for instance, the discussion moves from climate change to “communism counties.” Connections between ideas are also sometimes unclear, as in the sequence about farmers, expensive products and government action. Use one focused paragraph for causes and another for solutions, group related points together, and make the relationship between each example and its main idea explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “poverty,” “climate change,” “global warming,” “agriculture” and “income,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate or unclear word choices make meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “suffer from the starving,” “agriculture is waste everyday,” “appetiting” and “agriculture resource.” Some phrases are repeated, particularly “government,” “food” and “agriculture,” without more precise alternatives. Aim to learn common collocations for this topic and check word forms and spelling. More accurate choices such as “suffer from hunger,” “crop production is declining” and “agricultural resources” would make your points clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure with “which can contribute to climate change and global warming.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes distort meaning. For example, “This can serious problem” is missing a verb, “Government and international organization can take effective to steps” has an unclear sentence structure, and “Some people have very large family and income is low” has problems with articles and clause construction. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, such as “farmer can face” and “many individuals … suffer.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build longer sentences using clear connectors.
