Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many homo sapiens would face situations like famine despite being many modifications made in the agricultural area. I firmly agree with this statement because that has been happening and one of the major factors of it would be the government or change in climate. There are many advances and even Artificial Intelligence is also being induced in this field apart from the high-tech equipments but these are very expensive and the small-scale farmers might not be able to afford them.
Many people would face scarcity of food given the current scenairo because of the government. As the phrase goes for any democratic country, the government is for the people, to the people and by the people. The fact is the political parties comprises the govt and it is true that people only elect the govt by selecting the particular political party. But post becoming the government, the politicians and the concerning people in the government rarely fulfil their promises. For instance, there would be one party which would ask for the vote and in exchange they would make false promises; they would help the low-waged people or poor people in making sure that they provide two times food but later on after winning the elections, they would not work on it.
Another reason for people facing such situations would be because the farmers would be facing agricultural issues because of the climate change or any natural disaster impacting them. Farmers work so hard during all the seasons but because of the natural disasters like flood or cyclone, all of their hard work would go in vain in one go and therefore they will not be able to provide the desired crops like wheat to the respective people and therefore it would impact them and their earnings and they will not be able to provide the food for thier own family.
To conclude, I believe that people should be able to get aid from the government like maybe providing loan with low interest or providing the equipments on rent for less amount which would further help them in reducing this vital situation of people being hungry.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions by identifying political inaction and climate-related disasters as causes, then suggesting low-interest loans and cheaper equipment rental. These are relevant ideas, and the example of flood or cyclone damage helps explain how farmers can lose crops and income. However, the response does not fully develop the causes or solutions: the discussion of broken election promises is lengthy but does not clearly show how this leads to hunger, and the conclusion offers only limited practical action. The opening also says you “firmly agree,” although the task asks for an explanation rather than an opinion. Explain the links between causes and food access more directly, and develop solutions such as food distribution or investment in resilient farming.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for two causes, and a concluding recommendation. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “Another reason” and “To conclude.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The repeated “therefore” in the climate paragraph makes the reasoning feel repetitive, while the long explanation of elections does not maintain a clear link to hunger throughout. References such as “this vital situation” are also vague. Improve progression by stating each paragraph’s main point clearly, then explaining its effect on food availability or affordability; use a wider range of precise linking and referencing rather than repeating the same connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “scarcity of food,” “natural disaster,” “low interest,” and “crops,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “agricultural issues.” However, word choice and collocation are often awkward or imprecise: “modifications made in the agricultural area,” “high-tech equipments,” and “the concerning people in the government” do not sound natural in this context. “Homo sapiens” is unnecessarily scientific for a general essay, and spelling errors such as “scenairo” and “thier” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural topic vocabulary, for example “advances in agriculture,” “farm machinery,” and “government officials,” and check spelling and countable forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because” and “despite,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are awkward or faulty, particularly in the opening: “despite being many modifications made” does not form a correct construction. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “the political parties comprises” and “they would not work on it,” where the tense and reference are unclear. Several sentences are very long and joined with repeated “and,” which makes grammatical relationships harder to follow. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and divide long sentences into shorter units. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
