Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you explain that farmers may lack education, information about crop protection, and access to modern machinery, then suggest training, improved crop varieties, harvesters, and subsidised seeds. These are relevant responses, and the examples of Ghana and Uganda help illustrate the resource problem. However, some causes and solutions are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the opening mentions financial problems and seed availability, but the essay does not clearly show how these lead to hunger; the proposed crop varieties are also not developed with an example or explanation of their likely impact. The conclusion is incomplete, so it does not fully reinforce your answer. Develop the links between each cause, food shortages, and the proposed remedy.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a concluding attempt. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and transitions such as “On the other hand” and “It is concluded” signal relationships between ideas. However, several sentences contain many points joined together, especially the paragraph about farmers’ knowledge and farming stages, so the progression within them is not always clear. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “This” in “This can resolve” do not identify the problem precisely. The final sentence also stops before completing its idea. Use shorter, more clearly focused sentences and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “cultivating,” “harvesting,” “pesticides,” and “food production,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific terms such as “modern technologies” and “crop varieties.” However, the range is limited and many spelling errors make the writing less fluent to read: examples include “inavalibality,” “machinaries,” and “sucidize.” Some word choices or forms are also inaccurate, such as “hufe productions” and “education the farmers.” Aim to learn accurate forms of key agricultural terms and use natural collocations, for example “increase crop yields” rather than “increase the food.” Proofreading for spelling and word form would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The main ideas can generally be understood, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “many people … does not meet” should use a plural verb, while “farmers must educated” needs a passive form such as “farmers must be educated.” The long sentence beginning “Most of the people did not get” combines several clauses without clear control, and the conclusion is unfinished. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and building complex sentences around one clear main clause; accurate punctuation will also help separate related points.
