Student answer (Band 6.0)

Regardless, to the progress made in agribusiness, a lot of individuals around the globe are still starving. The reason behind this issue is; climate change, poverty and lack of access. To encounter these issue government can take initiatives, by providing resources to farmers, to adapt to climate changes and reduce poverty issues.

The foremost reason behind starvation is the climate change. Since 2022 climate has gone through several changes. For instance, summers last longer than winters.. Hot weather prolongs the process of cultivating food crops. Also the world suffered through major flooding this year which made issues for small farmers situated developing countries, who lack irrigation and insurance. Another reason for people staying hungry, is due to the sectors made in society; rich, middle class, and poor. Majority of the food is consumed by the upper sectors, rich and middle class, leaving nothing for the poor. Lets say bulk of food is cultivated but the poor individuals of the society are unable to afford the expensive food.

These problems can be encountered by the governing bodies, by developing organizations responsible for distributing the food among the poor class, also by financially aiding these organizations. Another scheme could be of helping small farmers. Like providing the farmers with crop insurance and help them with planning their crop preparation, by taking in account the weather forecasts.

In conclusion, despite the advances made in farming, people are still starving due to the unforeseen changes in climate and for poor people as they are unable to afford the expensive food. These issues can be resolved by government making sure the food is disturbed equally around the word, making organization responsible for food distribution.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions by identifying climate-related crop problems and poverty as causes, then proposing government support for farmers and food-distribution organisations. These are relevant responses, and the examples of flooding, limited irrigation and insurance help make the discussion concrete. However, the causes and solutions are not developed equally: the claim that richer groups consume most food is asserted rather than explained, and the distribution proposal needs more detail about how it would reach people who cannot afford food. The conclusion restates the main points but does not add a clear, fully developed final position. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind each cause and show how each proposed measure would reduce hunger.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the main progression from why hunger persists to what governments could do. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening “The reason behind this issue is;” does not lead smoothly into the list, while “These problems can be encountered” does not clearly connect each proposed action to a specific cause. Some ideas within the causes paragraph also shift quickly from climate to social inequality. Use clearer topic sentences and explicit links between each problem and its corresponding solution.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “climate change,” “irrigation,” “crop insurance,” and “food distribution,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “financially aiding” and “governing bodies.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, and these reduce precision: “sectors made in society” is unclear for social classes, “encounter these issue” is not an appropriate expression for addressing problems, and “food is disturbed equally” appears to use the wrong word. Spelling and word-form slips such as “Lets” and “word” for “world” also affect control. Aim for natural collocations and check that each word expresses the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including a relative clause in “small farmers situated developing countries, who lack irrigation and insurance” and a conditional example beginning “Lets say.” Most sentences communicate the intended ideas, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “The reason behind this issue is; climate change” misuses punctuation after “is,” and “To encounter these issue government can take initiatives” has problems with number agreement and sentence construction. In “by helping small farmers… and help them,” the verb forms are not parallel. There are also awkward comma placements and a double full stop after “winters.” Review agreement, parallel structures, and punctuation, while continuing to use a range of sentence forms.
