Student answer (Band 4.0)

In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. The farmers works for agriculture to create foods for our society and they take profits from their crop. that is possible if a government help the farmers, government want that, they less the cost of seeds because the farmer buy seed in control budget then work hard and create crops very much. Government want that less prize of fertilizers because the farmers buy easily and take best average of their crop. Government should that import the technical machines, So, the farmers buy their and harvesting on their crops. Government should that make sources for crops. then they do work easily , S they should that they import new seeds for crop like wheat, rice, sugarcane, and vegetables, because they gives best average, agriculture is very effected on our country economy. our country depend around about 70% on agriculture, that is very effected on our economy if we use technical seeds and technical fertilizers and we use technical tools and then we make a economy graph on high level then our country make a stronge grips and exports the crops like wheat, rice, sugar and vegetables in different countries then we gives profits. My opinion is that we import best seeds and fertilizers and imported tools for best agriculture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You respond to the proposed solution part by recommending government support for farmers, including cheaper seeds and fertilisers, machinery, and improved seeds. The examples of wheat, rice, sugarcane, and vegetables help make the topic relevant. However, the question asks both why hunger persists and what can be done; almost all your response discusses agricultural support, with little explanation of causes such as poverty, conflict, or unequal food distribution. Your position is present but not developed into a clear, balanced answer, and several recommendations are repeated rather than explained. The response is also below the required 250 words: 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, address both questions directly and explain how each proposed measure would reduce hunger.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a recognisable focus on government assistance to farmers, and the ideas about seeds, fertilisers, and machinery are related to one another. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish an explanation of the problem from proposed solutions. Connections are often made by repeating “government should” or using “then,” which creates a list-like progression rather than a developed argument. Some links are unclear, as in “then we make a economy graph on high level then our country make a stronge grips.” Use separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and organise each paragraph around one main point. Clearer linking phrases and references would help show how each idea follows from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “fertilizers,” “harvesting,” “seeds,” and “exports,” and you name specific crops to illustrate your point. This gives the response a basic range suited to the subject. However, many expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “best average,” “technical tools,” and “make a economy graph on high level,” so the intended meaning is sometimes difficult to identify. There are also word-form and spelling problems, including “stronge” and “prize” where “price” is intended. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more precise terms—for example, describe improving crop yields or increasing agricultural productivity. This would make your ideas clearer without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, particularly when explaining how lower input costs might help farmers produce more crops. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or joined without clear punctuation, as in “Government should that import the technical machines, So, the farmers buy their.” Subject–verb agreement and verb forms are also unreliable: “The farmers works” and “they gives” should use plural verb forms. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention as well, for example in “we make a economy graph.” These recurring errors make some relationships between ideas hard to follow. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate conjunctions and punctuation; check agreement, articles, and verb forms during revision.
