Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You include figures for all three nutrients and identify some relevant contrasts, such as dinner having the highest sodium share (43%) and snacks the highest added-sugar share (42%). However, the response has no clear overview of the main patterns, and several figures are inaccurate: breakfast added sugar is 16%, not 23%, and dinner is 23%, so saying both are 23% misreports one value. The account is also difficult to interpret in places, which limits how fully the chart is summarised. The response is 143 words, below the required 150. To strengthen it, begin with a concise overview, then report the most important comparisons accurately and clearly across the meal types.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the response moves from sodium to saturated fat and then added sugar, and it uses labels such as “At the last Added sugar” to signal a change of topic. However, the information does not progress smoothly within these sections. The sodium figures are crowded into one sentence, while the saturated-fat details are split awkwardly across two paragraphs, and repeated phrases such as “in the United states of America” make the account feel repetitive rather than connected. Several links, including “or” and “at the other to Lunch,” do not clearly show the intended comparison. Group the data into a clear overview and two comparison paragraphs, using simple, accurate linking expressions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “typical meals,” “sodium,” “saturated fats,” and “added sugar,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to follow: “differtal,” “consuned,” and “hight” are inaccurate, while “put Breakfast at” is not a natural way to report a figure. Repeating “in the United states of America” also uses words without adding precision. Aim for concise reporting verbs and comparison language, such as “accounted for,” “was highest in,” and “compared with.” Check spelling and use standard nutrient names consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most of the response relies on short, simple statements or fragments, with little evidence of controlled complex sentence structures. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are often faulty: for example, “... (29%). and the Snacks for (14%)” joins a full stop to a lower-case continuation, while “In the United states of America the meals consumed od average percentages in Sodium...” lacks a clear grammatical structure. There are also errors in articles, prepositions, and sentence construction that make relationships between figures unclear. The parenthetical percentages provide some basic sentence support, but they do not compensate for the limited range. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use parallel structures when comparing meal categories.
