Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important patterns: dinner has the highest sodium and saturated-fat shares, while snacks account for the most added sugar, and you correctly note that breakfast and snacks each contain 14% sodium. However, the response only partially summarises the charts. It omits key comparisons, including lunch’s 29% sodium and the full saturated-fat and added-sugar patterns, and the overview that dinner is more unhealthy while breakfast is healthy is too broad: snacks have the highest added sugar, and the charts show nutrient shares rather than overall healthiness. The response is also 33 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail available. Include a clearer overview and support it with more accurate comparisons across all three nutrients.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, discusses sodium and fat, then turns to sugar before giving an overall statement. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is not consistently clear, and the overview appears at the end rather than guiding the summary. Linking words such as “Moreover” and “but” are used, but connections between ideas are sometimes unclear; for example, “but in lunch is small difference of suger” does not specify what is being compared. Group related figures into clear paragraphs and use comparisons to connect them, such as contrasting dinner’s high sodium and fat with snacks’ high sugar.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “highest,” “lowest,” “quantity,” and “percentage,” so the reader can recognise the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “highest used of sodium,” “42% suger people are consumed from snacks,” and “unhealthy nutries.” “Pie charts shows” also reflects an inaccurate word form, while “snaks,” “suger,” and “unhealhty” are misspelled. Use precise terms such as “share,” “proportion,” and “account for,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid describing a meal as healthy or unhealthy when the chart only reports nutrient percentages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses short, simple statements, with a few attempts to connect clauses using “but” and “Moreover.” This limited range, together with frequent errors, makes some sentences hard to follow. For example, “The three pie charts shows” has subject–verb disagreement, and “In the charts shows highest and lowest value” lacks a clear grammatical subject and article. The sentence “42% suger people are consumed from snacks” has an incorrect passive construction, while “but in lunch is small difference” is incomplete. Practise accurate comparison patterns such as “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium, compared with 29% at lunch,” and vary sentence structures only when you can control them.
