Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

the charts below provide key information about the unhealthy nutrients types found in everyday meals that we eat it too much.the units are measured in perecentage.

overall,it is clear from the graph that the sodium, saturated fat and added sugar exist in every breakfast in usa. in addition of them presented in large proportions in dinner, whereas the soduim is in a little rate compared to the others in their snacks.

according to what is shown, the high percentage of added sugar in snacks and the high percentage of sodium in dinner ,42% and 43%.is not useful for the daily usage with highly demand, also the percentage of the 3 in the 4 meals is not good sign to give us a good impression about usa's peoples health.

in terms of their percentage in lunch maybe it seems like a good percentage but its really not so they should take these nutrients with a proper rate to avoid unhealthy problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify relevant features, including that dinner has the highest sodium share (43%) and snacks the highest added-sugar share (42%). However, the response only partially reports the chart: it gives no figures for saturated fat and does not compare the meal categories systematically. The overview also says the nutrients occur “in every breakfast,” which is not a meaningful chart feature, and the claim that sodium is low in snacks overlooks that it is tied with breakfast at 14%. Much of the response shifts to judging people’s health and recommending dietary choices, rather than summarising the data. Select the main highs and lows across all three nutrients, support them with accurate figures, and keep conclusions grounded in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, gives an overall statement, and then adds details about particular meals. However, the progression is not clear because the later sentences move from chart figures to general health claims and advice. Linking phrases such as “overall,” “in addition,” and “according to what is shown” are attempted, but some are awkward or do not clearly connect the ideas. The final sentence introduces lunch without explaining how its figures compare with the other meals. A clearer structure would be an introduction, a concise overview of the main contrasts, and a detail paragraph comparing the three nutrients, with each sentence focused on chart information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” “percentage,” and “proportions.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “exist in every breakfast,” “in a little rate,” and “with highly demand.” There are also spelling errors, including “perecentage” and “soduim,” and “nutrients types” is an unnatural phrase. The repeated use of “percentage” and “good” also limits precision. Build a more accurate chart-description vocabulary, using terms such as “account for,” “share,” “highest,” and “lowest,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, for example the sentence beginning “according to what is shown,” but complex structures are often faulty and punctuation makes the meaning difficult to follow. The opening has a run-on structure (“...we eat it too much.the units...”), while “in addition of them presented” lacks a clear grammatical construction. Other problems include missing or incorrect articles and prepositions, as in “in a little rate compared to the others in their snacks,” and the sentence about 42% and 43% is not formed clearly. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent. Practise writing shorter, complete comparisons first, then combine them with accurate clauses and punctuation.
