Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the nutrients and meal types. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the highest and lowest values, the comparisons are often disjointed or lack precision. For instance, stating 'a more percentages of fats and sugars' is vague and does not accurately reflect the data provided. To achieve a higher band, ensure that you explicitly compare the data points across the four categories rather than listing them meal by meal. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends across all three nutrients simultaneously.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt, such as 'Then come the last meal of day'. The use of bullet-like listing within paragraphs makes the text feel mechanical rather than a cohesive report. While there is an attempt at an overview, the connection between the body paragraphs and the summary is weak. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would significantly enhance the readability and logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'consumed' and 'taken in' without variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'a more percentages' and 'best meal of a day', which are not natural English expressions. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The three Pie charts consists'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'snacks, best meal of a day, a lot of sugars are being consumed'. The range of structures is limited, relying heavily on simple sentences or passive constructions that are not always used correctly. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and using articles correctly before attempting more complex structures.
